A little history is that I have had severe ( based on the liebowitz scale ) social anxiety for many years and have been able to deny it all the whilst attending therapy and trying out different SSRIs for depression. After going off prescribed medications because I had to, i started taking caffeine pills to boost my mood and it worked wonderfully. Recently, my new therapist helped me discover social anxiety as the root cause of my depression I came to the understanding that caffeine allowed me to better interact with people and that boosted my mood. I wanted to know if anyone else felt the same way, as I know caffeine is anxiety inducing in some people.

Caffeine increases dopamine and blocks adenosine. Dopamine is the feel good hormone and adenosine blocking increases alertness.
I’m not a scientist, but experienced with anxiety and past depressive episodes, but I think for the right person especially where low dopamine is an issue it can benefit the right person. Mainly for depression and social or situational anxiety. For those where heightened anxiety that is very bothersome, caffeine especially too much of it can be counter productive.
I myself drink coffee mornings and sometimes again 1:30-2pm (helps over come afternoon dip in energy).
