Is it possible to be psychologically addicted to mirtazapine? I’ve been off for almost 2 weeks. I don’t feel quite as well without it & I spend a good portion of my day thinking about going back on it

Why did you come off it in the first place? It is an antidepressant and sleep aid. Do you need it, did you talk to your Dr. about coming off of it? I have been on it for over a year, and am now on cymbalta so do not really need the mirtazapine now, so we are slowly weaning me off of it, went from 15 mg to 7 1/2 mg am doing OK, so later next month will start to wean off the 7 1/2 mg. Did you stop it cold turkey, that is never a good thing to do, we should be weaned of these types of med's. I wish you well, talk to your Dr. Sending love and hugs...Sprinkle 1......

I was put on it in the hospital for sleep anxiety. I always wanted to get off of it because I do not like being on medicine, especially psychotropics unless I really have to. My psychiatrist & I have had a plan to wean me down, hopefully to just Effexor. Yes, I weaned down from 30 mg to 15 to 7.5 over the course of 3 months. It wasn’t until I discontinued the 7.5 that the withdrawals hit. I felt much better today, so I am hoping I have gotten through it at this point

If. on Rx whatever it is should be tappered off under the guidance of Dr.

Having sleep anxiety sucks. My experience is I was afraid to go to sleep and not wake up and can,t move. Inwhich has happened to me it isa terror. Not be able to move, open your eyes nor speak. I literally have to shake myself to waken. I hope nobody experiences that ever.

Sorry took so long to get back to you. I have been off the mirt for two months & I feel great! It was a lifesaver at the time that I needed it. Withdrawal took 3-4 weeks once weaned completely off It was unpleasant, but doable. If you try it, you will go through some unpleasant stuff for a couple of weeks, but if you stand firm, you can do it. Just check with your doctor first. I only needed it temporarily to get stabilized
