I only eat one meal I day but I don't know if that's bad. But I think because I work out my metabolism actually slowed significantly because of how much energy it was losing, and why I actually got stronger because a slower metabolism means muscle stays longer so it seemed like I was actually getting healthier when I might have actually been get more been unhealthy? Which is why I hate buffets now as I used to like them with my fast metabolism until I stopped eating as much due to...certain reasons involving depression...but nevertheless I'm not sure if i should stop this habit somehow? As I also don't like to eat in the mornings now either, which only happened once I really started eating only one meal. So is this something I should even try to reverse?

Your body does need an energy source. Make sure you get enough protein in your diet.

There are so many schools of thought on food intake. You may want to read some articles on what eating the one meal does to your metabolism.

Take care of yourself.

Sorry to hear that, I to only eat once a day IF im a lucky but what i have experienced over a long time your body depending on height and weight gets very depleted of nutrients, which also makes you feel crappy slows your metabolism more. Please take care of yourself feel for to ask me if you need more info. Feel better!

When we exercise our metabolism speeds up not slows down. We get stronger by repetitive exercise, including resistance, not because we have a slower metabolism.

You can’t fuel a car on fumes, same with your body. Doing OMAD is fine if you are able to get all your macro and micro nutrients you need per day, including total calories but it’s extremely difficult. Even the best of calorie counters have a hard time wrapping all nutritional and calories needs in one meal. OMAD is essentially fasting all most the entire day, your probably getting used to ignoring the bodies hunger queues.

Your not unhealthy, just misinformed. Best advice is stop OMAD, Go back to your traditional way of eating, maybe even look into Intermittent Fasting (basically an eating window to eat your daily calorie needs but can push your first meal of day to later in the day/morning).

I agree, unforntaly for me I have no job blessed to have a couch to sleep on and roof over my head, but not eating is really hurting my body going more detail, you will lose a ton of muscle mass, weak. Some signs and symptoms of malnutrition include:

a lack of appetite or interest in food or drink.

tiredness and irritability.

an inability to concentrate.

always feeling cold.

depression.

loss of fat, muscle mass, and body tissue.

a higher risk of getting sick and taking longer to heal.

longer healing time for wounds.ion will sink in. list of symptoms I go through daily.

So far he/she hadn’t stated they are loosing weight. My advice stands, even if they have lost weight it will take quite a bit a time before the body starts atrophying muscle depending how how much body fat they are starting with.

They are fully aware of what is happening, a course correction and some nutritional knowledge of how this works and I think he/she will be okay.

oh okay just trying to help :/

You’re fine, also when losing weight exercise will keep the body from utilizing muscle for fuel it’s looking for it’s not getting from good. Another reason exercise is important for those out there trying to lose weight. 🌺

Do you think some multivitamins would help? not to go off he/she post, but I never know the next time i'm going to be able eat again :(

in reply toanxietymike216

Do you not have access to food?

To answer multi vitamins cannot replace nutritional aspects you need from food, like fiber, protein (this will help preserve muscle), etc. Better to spend money on that on real food.

no I do not have access to food everyday..

in reply toanxietymike216

Can you get to a food bank or see if there are free social services available where you live that can get you access to food? If your in the US you can dial 211. They will help. Not sure other counties but very familiar with the 211 switchboard a Nationwide Free Service,

I understand your situation better, the malnutrition, weight loss etc. I’m sorry for your circumstances.

Best of luck..

I could possibly walk like 5 6 miles ask the local food joints before closing and they have any leftovers or if there just gonna trash it. Won't hurt to ask :/

I see. Never heard of OMAD. I read some of your other comments as well. I haven't last weight but I have grown a considerable amount without gaining weight. So I'm not sure In that respect

in reply toAmberFox

OMAD is one meal a day is a fasting technique. Otherwise Extreme Fasting. Getting bigger without gaining is interesting. Could be some muscle pump, depending on if you are on a progressive strength training program (adding restistance) you could build some interim muscle, but this tapers off after 7-8 weeks. I don’t know your exercise or diet choices. so this is just added info.

But back on the OMAD, For example I can eat my entire calories for day in some sort of fast food or calorie ladened meal, but fall way short on fiber, protien, and needed vitamins.

Eat smaller meals more frequently? Try to ensure you are getting enough protein, calcium, fibre, iron, vitamins with your meal each day at least or try yogurt smoothies in between?

I don’t eat breakfast either and generally eat 1 meal /day bcuz of my decreased activity. I just try to ensure I get enough iron, calcium, vit c and b12 etc. A hard boiled egg is perfect food in many ways as a snack and is not too filling.

Your appetite may return when you get depression/anxiety in control (whatever that means) 😊 if you are concerned about it talk to your doctor or nurse practitioner they can judge better.
