Does anyone feel dizziness or just off balance everyday from severe anxiety? I don’t feel normal unless I take my medication and even sometimes that doesn’t help. I also have been experiencing extreme joint pain like all

Over. Has anyone or do you have these types of feelings from panic anxiety disorder?

Yeah I get them all the time but I guess we all react differently to anxiety.

Everyday 1 year now, I'm starting to think it's not just anxiety itself causing the dizziness but more like tension in the head down the neck and migraines. It says that migraines can actually be the dizziness itself and not an actual pain. This is just my opinion because I've noticed changes in my pattern of dizziness and balances it comes alot more with tension

I don’t get migraines or headaches but I have been experiencing horrible joint pain and poor circulation in my hands. I asked my doctor of poor circulation was causing me to feel dizzy and she thinks I’m overthinking and obsessing over things that aren’t happening. Which is frustrating because I feel dizzy and that doesn’t help me at all. Basically thinks I’m a hypochondriac.

in reply toHereforyou28

I'm the same, at times my hands gets numb almost like blood is not flowing or stuck lol. Its we are definitely going through much of the same issue. Going to the doctors and them not coming up with anything lol. I do believe that with anxiety every little thing is magnified and I hate it because it makes us feel like something serious is going on. I'm sure you'll be fine if your doctors dont assume anything more then anxiety. I only say this because I myself went through this and occasionally still do. Hope you get more answers though I think that also contributes alot to our anxiety is the lack of answers when in reality we are the ones feeling these physical symptoms. An answer is out there or maybe the answer is within our minds idk . Life is to short if they dont have an answer I'm gonna start making my own answers .

I would get a second opinion. Severe joint pain, dizziness and circulation problems should not be ignored. Stress certainly can cause physical ailments, so your doctor should take some tests. You look young in your photos so I am assuming that you've not had to find another doctor in the past. It is very easy to find another doctor. They will request your medical records from this doctor that you don't like so you will never have to see her again face to face. You need answers. Too many docs dismiss their patients as whiners. Your are having physical ailments. Good luck on this. You can do this.

Yes that’s my plan, thanks so much!

Yes absolutely .. the off balance feeling makes my anxiety worse ! ... Certain it’s from tension/posture in neck and spine .. causing it ! my shoulders are always near my ears .. lol hard to change habit when you have spent all your life in this anxious posture.

What helped me once was regular physio on my neck and them stretching my neck muscles. To costly to afford regularly now.

Thanks so much for the advice! I just don’t feel normal because of it and never experienced it until recently. I’ve always had anxiety but never had the dizziness off balance feeling on a daily basis

in reply toHereforyou28

Also, cold viral, sinus can cause inflammation which can effect ears to, which create balance issues. definitely for me neck posture from poor anxious posture. when it kicks in with me sometimes .. i dread it .. tiredness/stress can bring mine on to.

In addition, get your bloods checked .. iron deficiency and B12 will certainly cause giddiness. Good Luck .. it will pass if it is anxiety related however.

I had blood work done to see if I had carpal tunnel or arthritis. But it was all normal, just low magnesium which I take supplements now and it didn’t help improve anything just got worse. Personally I think it’s tendinitis but I’m not a doctor lol. Started in my hands and then went to all over my body

Hereforyou28 profile image
Hereforyou28 in reply to

She said everything else was normal with my blood so I’m like why am I dizzy. Anyways hate the unknown

in reply toHereforyou28

A physiotherapist told me that when i’m anxious, without even realising i am sometimes, you can hold yourself rigid .. even when your sleeping which in return leaves your with aching muscles, pins needles feeling from trapped nerves .. neck and shoulders again .. and the rigid tense muscles cause off balance giddy feeling. Glad your bloods ok .. best place to start is checking them. Magnesium good iv just started that as my pharmacist stated most people are short of that.

in reply to

We must remember that the fight or flight mode tenses the muscles. So you can be doing fine a couple days with the fight or flight but even one occurence of the fight or flight can cause all kinds of tension wich leads it to go up the spine behind the head and offcourse would cause the dizziness and head pressure.

Anxiety can definitely bring on physical stuff. And definitely stress which can totally lead to dizziness. It could also be an inner ear imbalance, foods you’re eating, dehydration, low blood pressure, ect. You should go for a physical. I hope you feel better! 💜

Thank you! I have normal blood pressure but I could work on eating healthier. I am only 128 lbs and I rarely gain weight but I do want a healthier lifestyle. I feel like after pregnancy, all my nutrients were sucked out of me and I haven’t really

Felt that great since. I try and take vitamins but I still feel

Crappy. I think my mind is playing tricks on me lol

Yes. I know exactly how you feel and I am so sorry for what you are going through. The dizziness for me is still the most frightening symptom of my anxiety and panic disorder because, well, isn’t it obvious? I’ve fallen a few times, quite a few times actually and recently I had a CT scan to rule everything else out. It came back normal, which is good, but the dizziness still comes and disrupts my life whenever it wants. As for the joint pain, it’s not as severe as the “pens and needles” sensation that I get almost all over my body, (i.e., fingers, arms, legs, toes), once I even felt it on my face which was weird to say the least. It’s strange though, that after all the years that I’ve been dealing with this stuff how scary it is. But hey, hang in there and know that you are not alone. As twisted as it may sound, I like not being alone in this.

Thank you for your advice! Yeah definitely sucks and I understand what you mean knowing that we aren’t alone when feeling so abnormal compared to everyone else. It’s totally a curse. Hope we get better soon!

Like you I also have fallen a few times and the thought of falling again can make us more anxious. The worst thing for me is when I cross a road and turning my head both ways makes me feel giddy. I think I also suffer with a type of vertigo. Doctors put it all down to anxiety. I also get the pins and needle feelings in my face like you do.

Antwaun profile image
Antwaun in reply toRagdoll15

I, too, might suffer from vertigo. My doctor mentioned BPPV as a possible culprit, but also told me that my dizziness might sometimes be brought on by my anxiety, so... (shrugging shoulders). I’ve only had a the “pens and needles” in my face a few times and each time really freaked me out because like, it feels extra odd there, you know?

Hereforyou28 profile image
Hereforyou28 in reply toAntwaun

I don’t get pins and needles in my face, I get the numbness in my hands and arms but that’s also from pain and the poor circulation. I am trying to figure out if anxiety and stress caused my body to shit down and give me all these joints pains. They are the worst!

Yeap...dizziness, brain fog, loosing balance, ringing in the ears, nausea, pressure headache, internal shaking like a small earthquake, and brain zaps...oh those jolts of electricity, the feeling that you are on an airplane that keeps hitting empty air pockets...you name it. You are not alone. Ask doc about adjusting your meds. I feel brain zaps with 25mg of Zoloft but when the doc increased my dosage to 50mg twice a day, my head has cleared and the dreaded fog and brain zaps have disappeared..

The doctor prescribed me Amitriptyline 10mg for depression and or joint pain, not sure if it’s gonna help because I haven’t taken it. I’m nervous too.. I tried lexapro and had bad reaction to it so now I wonder if the antidepressants will even help with the way I am feeling. I am on Xanax but it doesn’t take away the dizziness either. Just trying to figure out what’s right for me I suppose

in reply toHereforyou28

I’m on Zoloft after years of Paxil and a couple years of Lexapro. Oh gosh...Lexapro gave me scary nightmares and heavy night sweats. That’s an understatement. I used to wake up in the middle of the night soaking wet, drenched to the bone. I had to change sheets and night gowns every single night...Now, on Zoloft, all has gone away. In fact, my dreams are relatively happy dreams... point is, never stop investigating and trying different meds till you find the right match for you.

Antwaun profile image
Antwaun in reply toLets_heal

I was on Xanax a while back and it really helps for the moment because it sort of calms your entire body. But I don’t like how addictive it can be, which was why I wanted off of it.

Same totally never relied on medicine to make me feel better but it feels like I have to take it everyday because I’m constantly in panic mode. Don’t know how to control at the moment. I use to naturally but this year sucked

CNDmoonchild profile image

Yes. That means your coming down from a panic attack. Manage your breathing to help your anxiety so you don't go there.

Hereforyou28 profile image

I’m unbalanced all of the time, I may not even be having a panic attack but I also can’t control my racing thoughts that almost make me feel unbalanced. I wake up

Wondering if I’m gonna have a good day and then I seem to constantly think that I don’t feel right. It’s definitely a battle

Do not give up. You really can stop the madness around you because that is what it is. So many people really do not understand what it is to be stuck in fight flight freeze mode and your gears have been stripped by the trauma of your past. Understand yourself more, and most of all...heal Do not give up on yourself. You will find your happy place by surrounding yourself with positive energy.

I've been feeling wacked out and dizzy and almost confused daily.. Also exhausted.. I decided to very slowly wean off my venlafaxine as I had to know if it was causing the symptoms.. I was scared I could not go on living like that.

I was also experiencing pain, numbness and weird sensations through my body!!

I'm finally down to half of one capsule every 3 days and feeling better then I have felt in a long time!

My mind is clearing every dsy and I now beievd it was the venlafaxine!!

Good luck.

I feel brain fog or unreal kind of feeling, is it from anxiety? I have depression and anxiety, but this fogginess scares the hell out of me. At that time, i can't even read or comprehend a single sentence, like everything is so volatile and nothing gets inside. I can't even explain fully, everyone has their own experience but this is the scariest of all.

I have brain fog I think it's called depersonalisation caused by severe anxiety. It truly is awful not sure what helps. Maybe someone else could give some advice.

I was getting dizzy spells and nausea sometimes everyday, other times intermittently. No answers for a while. Then a GP suggested it might be Ménière’s disease/vertigo, which does run in my family (both people who had it also suffered with anxiety!) I didn’t want to take the ongoing medication for that, as these vertigo attacks are intermittent - although can last for days, weeks, months, even. So we’ve agreed I’ll just take it when I have an attack. They are often set off by stress and anxiety, with me - frequently preceded by overwork and other kinds of overdoing. The medication is called Betahistine and does help. I’m prone to falling over without it, during at attack, as the vertigo causes loss of balance - a feeling like walking on a boat. I don’t know if you can take it alongside other meds - might be worth looking into.

A quick update on this; I’ve seen my regular GP now, who thinks ENT should check the ears to try to pin down what is causing dizziness and nausea. It may be BPPV, which is triggered foremost by movement of the head and changes of position like getting up in the morning and moving around in bed; reaching into high & low cupboards etc. I’ve changed temporarily to Prochlorperazine/stemetil, on her advice. It treats those symptoms & I notice on the leaflet it says it also treats anxiety - which I notice remains a trigger for the other symptoms, too.

💬Hi There.

In response to your question, YES! I am dizzy and feel imbalanced every day. Its soo frustrating and some of it I believe is brought on by my Pre- menopause. I've had anxiety/ depression most of my life, and never have I experienced imbalance when walking until 3 years ago. It happened at work and I thought I was having a stroke⁉️I went to the hospital and they did test and no stroke. I also smoke and didnt realize how much it contributes to my anxiety until a year later.🤷🏿‍♀️

I've been going through hell the last 2 months and I definitely dont think it's all psychological; hormone imbalance as well. I feel like I'm carrying weights in my head sometime and iIexplained this recently to a doctor. makes no sense to me.🤔

I believe it! All we want is some answers sometimes and what we can do to fix it! It does become frustrating after awhile. I’m hoping eventually it will fade. I’ve just had an overwhelming year! Ready for a new one

Hi. I have read your post. I have no answers but just want to say that a lot of us (including me) are in the same boat. Anxiety is a monster. All those sensations and most importantly the fear of them drives me mad. Living in fear drives me mad. So what I do is try to tell myself every time I feel strange (dizzy, off balance etc) that "I am fine, I am healthy, It is not the first time, It will go away". Also mindful breathing, going for a walk. It does help to put your mind at rest even for a second.

Good luck. All the best.xx
