Is it normal for posts to be deleted?

I've written about how I felt about a situation a few years back and saw replies, but when I came back to my account to look at them, my post was deleted along with the replies. It completely put me off from using this site. What's the point of posting if I can't express what I'm dealing with?

I’m not sure if I had anything written that was triggering, but it would be nice to get a notification or response to why my post was taken down.
