Serenity Prayer

My Dr Gave me this the other day so I wanted to share it with everyone.

God, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

The courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time;

Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;

Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is;

Not as I would have it;

Trusting that You will make all things right

if I surrender to Your will;

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life

and supremely

happy with You forever in the next.

Amen

Thank you for sharing Trav4242. I had never heard the whole prayer.

The first 3 lines of your post are a plaque on my wall as well as a gold band

ring with those 3 lines engraved. That word "accept" comes into play again. :) xx

Certainly words to live by.

The Serenity Prayer is my absolute favorite, in all my times of trials and tribulations in my life when I was so down and depressed ... this sat next to me on my wall next to my bed, I’d look at and recite it over and over. It’s beautiful. It’s true.

I found this a while back.

The Other Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity

To stop beating myself up for not doing things perfectly,

The courage to forgive myself because I’m working on doing better,

And the wisdom to know that You already love me just the way I am.

The only part of this prayer we say every close of a meeting because it's supposed to be non-denominational...and the word God also means a higher power of your own choosing...

God, grant me the serenity

To accept the things I cannot change;

Courage to change the things I can;

and wisdom to know the difference.
