For the last five years the holidays have become a dreaded time of year for my husband and I. This year we have decided to buy a few new decorations to mix with our cherished ones and to find new ways to share our time. Today a wonderful friend came over and we baked cookies and put up the Christmas village both old and new. This friend is Jewish and we had a lovely time telling each other about our traditions. She also patiently listened with great interest as I showed her many of my favorite things and the story behind them. In the end we are all more alike than different. Whatever holiday you celebrate I hope it's filled with love, laughter and friendship.

We are all more alike than we realize
I’m glad to hear you had a nice time today. I don’t know your story but I understand how difficult the holidays can be and I dread them as well. I’m glad you had a lovely friend to spend the day with and help you enjoy the holidays again.
My husband and I have been talking a lot lately about the holidays and how we can enjoy them more. I think we finally have found what things are important to us. Sharing them and learning about my friends traditions were exactly what we needed. I will be attending a Hanukkah dinner this year and learning how to make potato pancakes. I'll let everyone know how it goes. BLESSINGS!
What a beautiful story. It raised my spirits reading it.
Love your Christmas village also.
My thoughts and best wishes are with you.
