Has anyone here ever experienced this come back on blood tests? Mine will go down a bit then shoot back up. Im not sure whats causing this. I am going back to my hematologist to get more tests done, i tested negative for polycythema. He says i have secondary. My physical symptoms are head pressure, jaw pain, blurred vision, fatigue, muscle spasms. Some anxiety and panic but those have improved.

High hematocrit/hemoglobin
Could any of these symptoms you have be side effects of any medication that you are taking?
I doubt it, i only take ativan a few times a week. And baby aspirin to combat the high rbc.
Could be Thalasemia minor. The hematologist would likely test for that though. It’s a mild form of anemia, genetic. A high hematocrit or hemoglobin is not a huge deal in and of itself. The hematologist will test for any causes that might be concerning. When mine goes above 50, they just have me donate blood and it goes back down for a while.
It just means you have a lot of red blood cells.
May want to check your TSH (thyroid) hormone levels as well. Low thyroid can CSU’s the body to try and make up for it by producing more red blood cells
I havent done any tests directly through my hematologist yet. My tsh is normal though.
My lab results showed elevate hemoglobin and hematocrit for the first time. No call from Dr. so I guess I shouldn't worry. How are your numbers now ? You mentioned jaw pain in your original post. I have had that for 4 months and I have no idea why.
Havent had then tested in a few months but ive been trying to eat better and lose weight. What were your numbers?
149 hemoglobin. 0.45 Hrmatocrit.
I live in Canada so not sure if same numbers are used
Hmm. Well 149 im not sure about are you sure its not 14.9? .45 hemotacrit is not high for men. Its not high unless its near .50 or over that really. Im not sure about womens levels.
I have high hemoglobin, hematocrit and ferritin is high. I’m worried, he did more test I’m not sure what they were, they haven’t come back yet, but I’m worried.
Stay away from red meat. You could haves the genes for hemochromatosis, I had genetic testing done and am at risk of developing it. What are you exact numbers? For hemo/hematocrit?
white blood count is 9.60
red blood count is 5.38
Hemoglobin 15.0
Hermatocrit 46.1
Ferritin 201
Reading the Internet these levels have me so scared
Dont look up stuff like this on the internet. Your doctor should tell you the normal ranges on your blood test results. How old are you? I will tell you right now those results are all within normal range. My hemoglobin was 18.1 last month and hemato was 51. You literally have nothing to worry about. If you want to keep me posted on your levels feel free but those are all normal.
