So I've been trying to get more into dating the last year. I had abstained from it for a while because of some bad relationships previously where a guy I was talking to touched me in a non-consensual way. Also because my family can be very weird and make me uncomfortable when it comes to dating other people.
It's hard for me to put myself out there with people because my anxiety can catch me and make me worry that no one would accept me as I am. I wondered if anyone has advice about getting past that and being able to be open to dating more.

It’s never okay to have someone touch you when you don’t want to be touched. I used to be a cereal dater. My advice would be to fully have a plan before going into a date. I find if you are fully prepared, it takes away some anxiety. So go on dates but make sure they are always in a public place and a friend knows where you are. Do it during the day. Feel it out and honestly, you’ll know pretty quick wether you feel comfortable around a new person or not. Use your gut. Ask questions. Once the date is done. Me sure you have a safe ride planned home. Then creep the person on the internet. Find thier Facebook, insta google search. If you feel like no red flags are going off. Then go on a second date. Still publicly. If he tries to touch you and you like it then great! If not. Just be honest and tell them the truth. That you’ve had bad experiences and you’re still uncomfortable. The right person will stick around and prove to you what trust and love is. Never let yourself feel uncomfortable. If you don’t feel good about it. Get out. But I still would give dating a shot. I’d also go see a councillor as well to talk things out xoxo good luck
