Low Energy neurofeedback

Had anyone ever tried LENS (Low energy neurofeedback)? I tried it last week and for the first time, I was able to drive on the highway without any anxiety. It's had to find actual studies on this. Curious if anyone has tried it.

Haven't tried it but just read a research article that concluded LENS treatment appears to be very efficient and effective in rapidly reducing a wide range of symptoms. It particularly produces rapid improvements in the first five to six sessions. If it's working, keep doing it!

Hi. I see this post is 3 months old but figured I would chime in. I have had about 40 sessions of low energy neurofeedback and more recently I also have been doing Alpha Theta neurofeedback that has unlocked subconscious memories. I can say that both have been extremely helpful for me. I have complex ptsd. I had been in therapy for a year before starting the neurofeedback. Got to a plateau with normal talk therapy as subconscious memories were no longer showing themselves yet I was having constant anxiety.

I would say every third alpha theta session brings up new memories.

Thank you, I did about 12 sessions, and my morning anxiety went away which is HUGE. I also am able to have a clearer mind when I try to be calm. I sort of felt like I did when I was younger. It is still hard for me to be at ease about it as it still freaks me out a little. But it works. I also just started EMDR.

Plato, I had never heard of neurofeedback until now. Taking away morning anxiety

would be worth the price of admission for most of us. :)

Thank you for sharing your experience. Many may benefit by it. :) xx

Thank you Agora. It's not your standard neurofeedback. It's different in that you don't watch any videos. You just close your eyes and it sends a signal to the "stuck" parts of your brain till all parts of the brain are linked up. Best to you!

Plato, who does that therapy? A psychiatrist or can a therapist do it?

Thanks :) xx

Hi Agora1. My therapist does the neurofeedback. They do have to be trained in it however. There are various programs that run the neurofeedback and each therapist chooses the one they want to use. Some programs are designed to unlock subconscious memories that are still causing you anxiety. That is called Alpha Theta brain training. With your eyes closed you wear headphones and listen to sounds/music. The therapist can see on her laptop as you go into a deeper state, theta waves, and then as you go out of it , alpha waves. It’s this crossover between the two that allows subconscious memories to be brought out to the conscious level to be dealt with.

There is also other programs in which you merely watch a show on Netflix with no headphones and based on the settings the therapist entered, your brain is rewarded or not rewarded for being in the optimal range. This is used a lot for anxiety.

There is another training that works on the fear aspect. We have not yet done that and are working up to it. There is an order the therapist follows on which parr’s of the brain to train first. It mostly has to do with calming the brain first before incorporating anything else. As alpha theta can bring up new memories, that part is not done right away.

Anyway for me it was worth it. I was stuck and nothing else was working until I started the neurofeedback. I was very skeptical going into it but figured why not try it. I was very happy to be proven wrong.

Pfighter, thank you for taking the time in responding to Neurofeedback. Especially

in that it has worked for you. We all respond to different treatments with our mental health. It just proves that we should never give up as well as in being open

to any non-invasive methods in getting back to health. Continued success my friend.

I'm happy for you. :) xx

I started LENS sessions 2 weeks ago, so far 4 sessions completed and very little improvement other than irritability. I am committed to at least 12 sessions, I pray it helps with my adhd and sporadic anxiety.
