i just rescheduled my therapy intake appointment again
Stop rescheduling and go. You will find therapy to be a relief, where you can share without judgement.
Your mom does NOT need to be present at your session. There is a thing called therapist/client confidentiality.
According to this article
goodtherapy.org/blog/faq/do...
it says that the parent does need to give consent for treatment for a minor child and in some states the parent must accompany the minor to the 1st session ONLY. That being said, there ARE exceptions.
I agree get to that appointment. You will feel better going.
As a mother I would be more concerned about you getting the one on one help. The last thing I would think of doing is going in the room. How can anyone expect you to be open in front of your mom?
Is she pushing to go in? Because she doesn't need to be in there.
Hope you get the help you need and start to feel better.
