My first time on medication and I am not sure of the side effects I'm getting.

I was diagnosed with long term anxiety and moderate to severe depression. I've been on medication for 2 weeks now. The Psychiatrist gave me Viibryd and Hydroxyzine because I get a nasty insomnia. Everything was fine the first few days. But now I feel some low grade semi headache nearly all the time and I feel like I'm constantly living in a panic attack trying to claw my way to breathing normal cause I'm just choking on air. Also, I'm still getting insomnia and now the last 3 nights in a row I've had terrifying nightmares of things like Pennywise the clown or end of the world on vivid detail. I'm not even scared of the movie IT, I love horror films. But these nightmares are beyond me and I'm not sure if its me or the meds or just life. How long does it take for meds to kick in? How long does it take for adjustments? What was your experience? Does anyone else take these meds too? Help please...

Hello! My first meds were paroxetine and escitalopram and it was really hard the first month. I got constant headaches and felt like vomiting. If your meds aren't working, I think you should tell your psychiatrist so that you can find a better alternative medication. Good luck!

Also, for insomnia, I take clonazepam.

hi, it seems like the type of meds you have been given are not specifically for insomnia,in fact ,I looked them up and what i read horrified me(never really heard of them on this forum-----my advice would be to read up on what medication your given-----both seem very powerful as well as opposed to insomnia-------give me your opinion after you read this or find another GP/psychiatrist to consult.....

Glad it helps you to realise that all drugs carry side-effects,and its weighing up the pros and the cons.and at the end of the day if they create more havoc in your subconcious ,maybe its best to find another type of med.Citrlopam, was prescribed last year, for mild depression anxiety (my sister was on them)but after reading the side effects i havent touched them, still weaning me of diazapam.I do hope you can find some drug to alleviate your anxiety, and that you can function better nothing worse than insomnia!
