My therapist recommended talking to my doctor to increase my dosage of Lexapro? Been on it 2 years and scared to increase. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

Increasing Dosage of Medication?
Hi WarriorofWellness! I started taking Lexapro 10mg 1 a day at dinner 5pm & going on 5 weeks this Tuesday. It's seems to be helping, but I'm also on Depakote 250mg 1 a day & my psychiatrist increased it to 3 times a day spread out. It helps with mood & anxiety also. What mg are you currently on & why does your therapist want to increase the Lexapro if you don't mind me asking?
10mg and I had a bad bout of depression recently, so she was thinking it may need an increase to keep working.
I don't know a lot about Lexapro since I started taking it last month & been reading up on it. Have you been on it for awhile & that may be the reason she wants to up it. I read where some people went from 10mg to 15mg & see how that works for you? I don't think you have anything to fear since you are under a doctor's care. Keep us posted on what you do? You'll be alright!❤️🙏🙌🙏
Your doc will be sure to know the maximum dosage recommended and not exceed it. Lexapro is like many other antidepressant medications that are SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors). It is basically effects chemicals in the brain that are unbalanced in those of us dealing wih depression. Research informs me that usually the patient starts at 10mg/day and it could be increased to as much as 20mg/day as prescribed by your doc. In addition, if you have treatment resistant depression your doc may want to supplement your Lexapro with a different antidepressant. I wouldn't be fearful about an increase. Good karma friend.
Hi Warrior, I've been on Lexapro for years and just recently was upped another 5mg
That little bit more can make such a difference in how you feel. Believe that your therapist
knows what is best for you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised in how much better
you feel after a dose increase. Give it a couple weeks to stabilize. Good Luck xx
Thank you!
