Anyone dealing with this?

I have major depressive disorder and struggle daily. Now that my kids are teenagers, their dealing with depression to. Most recently my 11yr is going through it and it breaks my heart. Does anyone have any good ideas on how I can help him. He has an appointment with his Dr and counseling already. Thanks

Maybe talk honestly with him - tell him this happens to you too - and help him brainstorm healthy ideas for coping.

The good thing is that you know what depression entails....as a teenager he will need your support and understanding. ..he will sometimes need his space however he will need a best friend in you

Someone who will encourage him and guide him without criticism. ..someone who will help him hope for tomorrow to come ...someone who will help him up when he's down ......not just a parent but a best friend

That is right. The good thing is IAM very open with my kids and we all have a close bond so I'm thinking that will help to. I'm grateful that he, they can come to me and tell me what's going on.
