Dealing with anxiety?!

i have frequent anxiety attacks. In the day and night (when they occur in the night they usually come with nightmares) i havent learned to control them just yet but they are becoming less frequent as i am on medication. i dont really know what to do because i dont want to worry my mother who is already very concerned. when she found out about the attacks she started to shelter me restricting me from certain shows, games, movies etc i am finding it really hard to cope because although i appreciate her efforts she fails to understand that its something that im facing in real life and it has nothing to do with external factors like social media, games, shows etc

I know it's one of those things we have to go through ourselves to get better.

Glad they are getting less frequent and you are getting assistance.

What has caused your Nightmares in the first instance. Sometimes if you try sleeping in a different position, side, pillow etc sometimes that may help

my anxiety and nightmares are caused by feelings of not being in control due to my past family situation which i dont think that i am ready to even admit to myself but thx for the advice ill be sure to try it

You need to be able to talk out your fears and past experience. So you will need a Therapist to approach your problems with you.

You mention your Mother, Because your problems were in the past when young may it be possible to talk out your past with Her.

yes thx for the advice. and yes i do go to a therapist but i find it very difficult to open up to others. slowly but surely im doing it though

Eventually you will feel comfortable to open up to people who are trying to help. You need confidence.

You need to discuss the reasons for your Anxiety, knowing the problems will help you open the doors to control fears and move on.

A Therapist over time will give you tools to protect yourself in your future life, whe need to gain strength that will allow us to make our own way through life, eventually with help you will move on
