Eating worries

Sleeping and eating can be taken for granted. I have no appetite and have to force myself to eat a little bit each day. It’s so hard. I have a blueberry drink with flaxseed in morning then in the afternoon some quinoa with a vegetable. Maybe that’s enough but I feel like it’s unhealthy as the portions are really small. I just want to be healthy. I guess I’m having health anxiety.

Are you doing the best you can? Honestly? Probably are with all you have on your plate. Ease up on yourself. You’re worried you not sleeping enough. Worried you’re not eating enough. Are you making things worse with worry. If you can do something about it at the moment, do so. If not, Let Go and Let God. ❤️ Lynn

Thanks LilyAnnepuppy. Yes I am overthinking with worry. How do I not worry? I can try saying “it’s okay” to myself until I hopefully believe it. Every day things work out so why worry but I can’t stop. I’ll pray about it.

That what I do. I use the Serenity Prayer. “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference.”

Are you trying to lose weight? Lack of adequate nutrition can lead to sleep problems. Are you open to seeing a mental health therapist for your anxiety? Sounds like there's something going on that could use some professional help, although I am always here. Good karma coming your way sweetie!

No I have no appetite. I’ll be seeing my therapist tomorrow.

Wobblyx on thyroid site has found taking magnesium glycinate helpful but he/ she does not like the large tablets. We have peppermint indigestion tablets here with magnesium in them and we can buy magnesium pillules in a chemist over the counter. It helps muscle pains and anxiety . I find magnesium does help sleep and anxiety and you need about 340mg a day in food. You need foods high in dopamine in them to help your relax. You can get this in fortified cereals with milk/milk substitute. Oats are a good source of vitamins. Energy Rock star drink has high levels of B12 which can help. B5 can be found in Nestle Cheerios made with oats which helps energy and insulin levels. I also like homeopathic pillules such as Nelsons. People say they are rubbish, but I have found rescue remedy and a combination of their pillules can help with anxiety. expect you can look up these online. These can be taken with existing meds as they only have traces of the substances which help your mood.

I write down everything I eat, to be sure I hit the major needs. You need about 2 TBSP of fat a day. I use peanut butter. My s/o uses olive oil, my sister uses coconut oil. It doesn't matter, as all non-animal fats do the same thing.

You need protein every day. About the size of a fist for meat or fish twice daily. A little less for meat-free, as they are less bulky. Fruit and veggies: About a fistful at least 3 times a day.

That's the bare minimum for best health.

I use rice all day, every day.

Indian puffed rice with warm milk and fruit in AM

puffed rice patty with PB and fruit spread at lunch

dinner is what I feel like, in reason....usually a turkey hot dog cut up, 1/4 cup diced asparagus, a 1/2 cup mushrooms and 2 scrambled eggs. I am allergic to cheese, but it should be topped with cheese. I throw mushrooms in everywhere they might taste good.

bedtime either the fruit or veggies. A lot of mushrooms for protein.

It is hard to get the mood to eat sometimes. Having a habit makes it easier to get the meal. Thinking about it can sometimes build a desire to eat.

1,200 calories are the minimum for a woman. Activity increases the caloric need, as does higher weight. Basically, a woman at rest needs 10 times her weight in calories daily.

So a 120-pound sedentary woman needs 1,200 cal per day. A 200-pound woman needs 2,000 cal/day.

I failed to mention calcium. Skim milk, broccoli, yogurt, etc.

How can people eat so much? I can’t I’m lucky if I eat one small meal a day right now. I am vegan so I take a supplement so I get enough protein.

I eat tiny portions or a grape. I like a stick of celery or a hard boiled egg. If I can get a huge juicy orange I’m good for half the day. Just stay hydrated.

Frequent small means ore best. My way may seem a lot, but it's about 1000 cal/day...which leaves me scrambling for 200 cal before bed......that's 24 chips, 1 banana, a small whole-wheat eng muffin, a yogurt, or a pudding cup.

I go with peanut brittle in bed. It may be why I look like I’m having a food baby now but I’d rather blame Prozac so I can nag my doctor. 😁

I like to go for stretches of fasting.

Talk to your doctor about that. If you’re a female on meds that’s not a good idea. Just sayin’. It’s not really good for A/D either. I don’t want you hurt.

Fasting can make a lot of issues worse. Your body goes into starvation mode so that it hoards calories and weight loss stalls. Fluids are not being replaced, so you can develop electrolyte imbalances, which you don't want. It may make you more vulnerable emotionally.

That said, there is a place for religious fasting for a period of meditation and prayer, but my opinion is still life trumps law. That means that a good God will desire our health and safety. Even on Yom Kippur, the fast is not allowed for diabetics, pregnant or nursing women, the very young and the very old, and anyone who may face health issues by fasting.

Hmmmm well it works for me. There are health benefits in fasting. It’s like a cleansing.

That is what matters. Just drink water if you start to feel funny.

Oh yeah I don’t fast from water.
