Elbow pain

I have a dull on and off ache in my left elbow. I took one ibuprofen and rubbed some thermaCare ultra pain reliving cream, none of it worked. What can I do? Should I be worried?

No, I just woke up and it was hurting. I haven't bumped it or hit it or anything like that.

Yes, I think you probably should be worried.

Not by the dull ache in your elbow, but because something so minor is causing you grief. The ache is probably a slightly sprained muscle or tendon. Try not to put any weight on that arm and it will clear up all on its own.

I see from previous posts that you've been over worrying about minor health matters for some time. So it's reasonable to suspect that you have health anxiety. That's when your strained nerves make you believe every ache, sprain and pain is the harbinger of some serious illness.

You've spent too long putting up with worries and now you're paying the price. The way to disperse these worrisome symptoms is to desensitive your nervous system that's working overtime dealing with all the fear hormone you've been pumping out. You can do this by simply accepting the symptoms for the time being. Don't fight them, don't obsess about them, simply accept them for the time being in the full knowledge they can't harm or disable you.

The more you accept them the less fear you will generate: giving your nerves a chance to recover. And when they do, all the minor symptoms like the pain in your arm will resolve and trouble you no more.

So just carry on as normal doing the things you normally do but accepting (for the time being) all the false health symptoms that come your way. And once you learn to live with your health anxiety you'll soon be able to live without it!

I know what health anxiety is & I already know I have it because a doctor already told me that. I wasn't in grief or obsessed I was just curious why nothing I did helped. Never once did I think this was some serious illness. All my posts are separate and have been dealt with don't lump them all together. But thanks for belittling me & almost making feel bad about my self. Please refrain from further reading or commenting on anything else I may post, including this. Your intentions may have been good but it didn't come across that way. So thanks but no thanks.

Go to the doctor

I developed a bad pain in my elbow, one day, for no apparent reason. After two or three weeks, I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with ‘tennis elbow,’ which usually happens from a physical trauma, but in my case I never bumped it or injured it in any way whatsoever. By pure chance, I happened to be reading the reviews on a new supplement I previously took one pill of, and saw one comment after the other of people talking about elbow pain. Turns out that elbow pain was a side effect of the pill! I hope I’m going to spell it right, but the name of it is ‘Reservatol,’ or a similar spelling. It’s sold under that name, but can also be one of multiple ingredients in a multi supplement. If you took anything like that, it could be the cause. There’s really nothing the doctor can do for you. You just have to wait it out. It can take days, weeks or months. For me it was about two months, then it went away and never came back.
