I currently take zoloft 50mg, been on for a bit over 2 weeks but might be having some bad side effects like worse panic attacks and spacing out easily also bowel issues. I take ativan to help have had to take .25mg everyday for the past 4 days. My doctor said i can switch meds if needed to another SSRI. Anyone have success with an anti depressant besides zoloft or any recommendations? Any input would be appreciated.

Medications need to be selected by your Doctor or Health Professional, some medications do not suit everyone, we are all different
Talk to your GP and explain the problem

I have been taking Citalopram 20 mg for about two years now. The thing about SSRIs is they take time to kick in. Even if you have been on a lower dose for a long time then bump it up some. You have to give your brain and body time to adjust and excessive anxiety and panic attacks can be part of the process. When I first started my medication I was constantly anxious, panicked, my jaw was clenched all of the time, I couldn't sleep, I had nausea, I couldn't focus, racing heart, everything. It was a hard two weeks, but by the third week I started to feel better. I wasn't waking up with my whole body tense, I was able to breathe and relax my shoulders, my jaw wasn't clenched, I slowly got my appetite back. The symptoms just kept getting better. Definitely did not happen over night. Call your doctor and see if you should give it another couple of weeks (I know it's hard but the end result is so worth it) or if they suggest you change.
Hi it is common to feel worse until the meds fully kick in which can take up to 6 weeks If you can bear the side effects it is probably worth persevering. I take this and find it very good. x
