Hello everyone. Yesterday I again went to the ER, but this time it was for a dull headache with ear pain that lasted for 2-3 days. The headache eventually traveled to my neck and shoulders and this was the reason for the ER visit. Why there, I was given a CT of my head and had bloodwork, which all came back well. I was eventually diagnosed with a migraine. The Dr tried to give me a migraine coctail, but because of my fear of new meds, I didn't take it and asked for tylenol instead (although he did write me a prescription for the migraine coctail). He told me the tylenol would do nothing, and he said that a migraine can last for days. Well he was right. I still have the headache and neckache, and I still haven't got my prescription filled. Now I wanna run back to the ER because my anxiety has me thinking

1. The CT missed something and I have a more serious issue going on.

2. The new med will do something bad to me.

I wish my mind would shut up! Why can't I just listen to/follow Dr's orders? My mind doesn't have a medical degree as a Dr does. The only degree it has is in dumb! Has anyone else ever had a migraine that lasted for days?

Absolutely have had those kind of migraines in the past.

The more we worry, the worse it gets.

The more medication we take, we can get rebound headaches.

When I would get my migraines, I would call it a day. Put everything

aside and leave my worries behind me. You can't allow anxiety to

visit while you are dealing with this pain.

Migraines not only present with a painful head but also painful ear,

jaw, neck and shoulders. We hold ourselves tense whenever in pain

and need to relax. It will go away in time. It might not be a bad idea

to try the prescribed medication. OTC meds aren't really that effective.

I hope you get some relief very soon. Been there. I sympathize :) xx

You're right about the rebound headache. I was taking too much Advil at home. Thank U Agora. Your kind words alone brings relaxation 💜.

My migraines last for 3 days. I need to drink lots of fluid and I take a prescription med.

I never feared the meds because the headaches were so debilitating I needed relief.
