I want to stop taking antidepressant

it just doesnt help me. I always cry and all. I feel my anti depressant doenst help me.

Hi ad's don't help everyone but how about increasing the dose? Or trying a different one. I started off on 100 mgs sertraline which didn't help at all, but when it was upped to 150 mgs the difference was wonderful.

How long ago? Don't forget it can take up to 6 weeks to start having an effect. x

SSRI’s don’t work for me either. They don’t work for a lot of people, or they work at first and then stop. My suggestion is to check out a service called Gene Sight. They test your dna and let you know which medicines would actually work for you. They offer testing for free or reduced price in a lot of areas, and they have a little map on their website to let you know if there’s a doctor in your area that can offer it for free. Otherwise I think you can get it in the mail.

This mental health thing is no joke. If there is anything out there that can save someone from going through years or decades of trying the wrong medicines, I think it’s worth it to stop the pain. Either way, I hope you find something that helps! There is no guarantee that you will always feel as shitty as you may feel right now. I’m cheering you on!

Everybody's different, but for me the standard SSRI's weren't working and my prescriber switched me to Remeron (Mirtazapine). The change was fairly immediate and so, so much better. Good luck with finding something that works for you. Keep trying, it's worth it!
