So today I woke up with crazy anxiety and I went down stairs to take my Paxil but when I stood up I found my self completely shaky and dizzy, heart rate going crazy, hyperventilating. So I had a panic attack while trying to get down the stairs to pop the pill in my mouth then I made it to the couch to just sit and wait for it to kick in. Well that didn’t really happen because 20 mins later I feel like I’m dying my heart rate is going faster than I have ever experienced in my life and I work out. My breathing was so terrible I couldn’t catch my breath I truly thought I’d pass out or die (I know you won’t die but it’s all I could think about in the moment).
I think this may be happening because I’m going into work at the hospital at 2:30-7pm. Work is really a trigger for me and I can’t take any more time off or there will be repercussions. My schedule ends July 7 and I have two days to make my next schedule for the next month and a half. I want to tell my boss I can’t do this job like I used to, and get a different job somewhere else. My mom would be so pissed though. Ugh

Hello, I hope you are doing better now. Do you have any clue to what could have caused the attack so suddenly? And I see you mentioned you have a phobia of working in a hospital setting, could you elaborate more on that? I also had panic attacks at the hospital starting out as a practitioner, I was afraid I might prescribe the wrong drug, or do something wrong that might hurt the patient. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do at the hospital? Also, Paxil not really a good anxiety stopper in my opinion, I have prescribed it a few times, and I have been prescribed it, but I never seen the effects on me or in my patients on the dosages. If you don't want to answer on here, feel free to message me, I will respond as soon as I can. I hope I can help!
Sounds like u need to increase your doseage as that is a clear sign of a panic attack. U know it is all about realizing those thoughts u r having really have no value. When u minimize those thoughts every day u will make baby steps. I suggest working thru the workbook, "The Anxiety and Phobia workbook" by Edmund Bourne. U might also look into a medicine change. U can do it! But u have to tell your brain it is not going to rule u anymore! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Also get out of your brain and focus in others....volunteer somewhere...u will find it gets u out if your brain. Good lick! Work Hard. Feel blessed u have a job amd look at it in a positive light amd minimize the negative. 👍🏻💪🏻👍🏻💪🏻
I'm sorry to hear that. Have you told your boss at the hospital about what's been going on? They might offer accommodations. Right now, it might just seem to them like you're just taking time off to take time off, rather than a mental health condition, if they don't know what's going on.
