Is this possible?

Hi guys I’m 21 and have been suffering with severe health anxiety for nearly a year now and I am just writing to ask can it fully be cured to the extent that you completely forget about this part of your life because that’s what I want to achieve by going to therapy but from reading news articles about people with health anxiety where they all say they’re just “managing” it and they don’t think they’ll ever be fully cured I’m scared I’m gonna be like this forever in some form or In someway. Any reassurance?

Also check out the recordings or books by Dr. Claire Weekes - she was of the mindset that anyone can heal.

Hi Bengdmn,

You absolutley can overcome this. I have been able to take huge steps in overcoming my anxiety. I have been able to crush through any doubts or barriers I thought I had. Its been a process. But its been a shift in mindset, therapy, and intentional research to get healthy. I am doing the work. You can accomplish anything you put the work into.

Managing means that you are going to have to make lifestyle changes to keep it away. In order to stay fit, you must perform a series of actions everyday (diet, exercise, managing stress, tracking calories) to manage or "cure" your weight. The same idea can be attributted to your anxiety. This is a game of learning how to take care of your mind. Keeping away anxiety is a muscle and the daily persistence of making different lifestyle choices. Your diet, exercise regimine, thought patterns, daily practices, therapy - will all pay a role.

Where there is a challenge - there is victory

Where there is struggle - there is triumph

Where there is focus - there is progross.

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling. Be kind to yourself. You have plenty of time to be all you have dreamed of.

You will overcome this. It took me about eight months. First, get any tests done for your ailments to get physical proof that these symptoms are false. Second, get busy challenging yourself. I had to push to take daily walks and keep my mind off how I felt. Train yourself to not google your symptoms. This is difficult but it makes things worse and puts more negative thoughts in your head. When you get the positive results that you're healthy from your doctor, post those results around your car, bathroom and bedroom as a reminder you're ok. Get back to things you like to do. Join a club or team to make new friends and keep yourself busy. You will improve.
