Really good tips and reminders of things to do and think about to feel better.

I would like to add two:

Laughter Yoga...something that’s growing in popularity because maybe all the laughter real or pretend increases happiness hormones.

Also, before finishing a lovely warm shower I turn the temperature to cold and stay under for the count of 30.

Makes me gasp and chuckle every time.

However...

I remember being in the deep dark depths of depression, followed by tears and more tears and sleepless nights trying to figure things out. Any suggestions of things to try to make myself feel better seemed like too much effort and I reasoned probably wouldn’t work for me....until I made a list of 6 things that would take about 3 minutes to do. I numbered them 1 through to 6. My list looked like this:

1. Stand up and breathe.

2. Stand outside and listen to the birds, planes, cars.

3. Pull a weed in the garden.

4. Make a mug of tea. I got a teapot and a little packet of real tea for this one and enjoyed smelling the tea brewing. I like coffee too.

5. Suck a frozen grape.

6. Screw up a piece of paper, smooth it out, draw a picture or pattern or do 3 minutes of using coloured pencils.

The key thing, the key thing to make me do any of the above was to throw a dice. Something about this small action made me feel compelled to get up and do the corresponding numbered thing from my list.

Have fun if you try it.

Kind regards

Christophina
