Hello Raven! Glad you've found us. For a start, go on YouTube and find recordings by Dr. Claire Weekes. She can give you a great foundation for understanding what's going on with your mind and body when you are anxious. Also keep in mind, at 18 you aren't SUPPOSED to be good at everything yet, so give yourself a break.
Everything Jay said...I'm 35 and I'm fairly sure I'm still waiting to be good at something Welcome aboard and I would recommend really looking into CBT as a therapy, deep breathing, and mindfulness. They truly do a lot of help for many forms of anxiety, panic, and depression. There are apps to even make it easier (search: mindfulness apps) to practice daily. You'll need to learn patience, kindness, and a sort of respect for the "discipline" (like karate) that mindfulness is and can be, but the basis of it is really simple. Obviously, we'll all say to see a doctor, a psychiatrist, and/or a therapist. You need to build a really good team to be on your side. They can decide with you on medications (if needed). As someone who has suffered since your age (my anxiety/panic came on around 17 and I'm 35 now), don't ever give up because better days are possible. If you ever feel very down or that you could hurt yourself, please please please call a hotline. Not suggesting you have or will, but just a general good disclaimer. With all of that said, I hope you feel welcome here and feel free to share your story and what sets off your symptoms. There are so many people who have been in your shoes here who can share advice or give you pointers/tips. Best of luck and welcome!
Easy to give advise but not so simple to do but you can do a few of these suggestions. Get hold of a simple book on meditation methods (Ram Dass,, others). Try to be aware of your thoughts and attempt to deliberately think of something you do, like or enjoyed experiencing. Youtube has lots of information on meditation, guided inner tours, put some headphones on and (become) the music that turns you on, try some CBD from a trusted source (not TV ads) use the net ‘best or trustworthy company / label for...), yes, there is a CBD for anxiety but I haven’t tried it,
speak with good people that you trust will have your back,
aerobics can be tried. Try prana yama breathing, self hypnosis (again check YouTube for both. Maybe a therapist or a script for anxiety. I wish you all of the best and know that the anxiety can pass. 🌞
Hi try and recognise that everyone worries about themselves and their behaviour. Instead of concentrating on your own feelings try and put other people at their ease instead. Think of them and this will help you. x
Deep breathing and mindfulness have been my go to for calming my anexity.. works everytime for me
Hi there, sorry you are dealing with this I know it makes everything harder. Many have found that taking magnesium helps a lot with anxiety and anxiety is many times a depletion of it . Stress uses it up and you need extra. Magnesium malate is best absorbed by body, it calms the mind body and spirit. Also,Ginseng is great to get rid of sticky negative thoughts that loop around. They truly help, a lot!I keep almonds with me since they have magnesium and are a great snack. =) Hang in there, you got this and it does get easier! <3
