My anxiety has been a bit higher recently, so my psychiatrist has suggested that I raise my dosage of Lexapro (escitalopram) from 10 mg to 15 mg and to take my Xanax more frequently. Typically, I only take Xanax when I have breakthrough anxiety (about 1 to 2 times per week, usually at bedtime.) For the past 3 days, I have been taking 0.25 mg of it once in the morning and once at bedtime. I feel like I've been dizzy and experiencing quite a bit of nausea and/or dry heaving, especially in the morning. I know the nausea is most likely a side effect of the higher dosage of Lexapro, but can the dizziness be from the Xanax, the Lexapro or even both? It's quite bad today and I'm freaking out about it a little.

Question about Xanax side effects
Just wanted to say sorry to hear of your struggles with the meds..
I guess it’s likely it ties in with the changes, although only a medic could tell you. Or maybe local pharmacy..hope you can get it sorted soon. Maybe a phone appointment with your doc to discuss it could help...I’m not sure what country you are in to make further suggestions ..

Do you know how much and often you can take Xanax before becoming dependent??
Hi Lm92, since I have been on both, I can say that through my own experience,
raising the dose on Lexapro can give you some anxious moments for a couple weeks,
however since I've been off Xanax, my dizziness is gone. I hope you get some
answers from your doctor or therapist since we are all different in our response to
medication. Wishing you well xx
Thank you. I've never taken Xanax on a daily basis before, so I think it's definitely been an adjustment. I didn't think my doctor would get back to me on the weekend, but she did call to let me know to only take it if I feel I truly need it. Thankfully it's only been 2 days of daily use. My greatest fear is becoming dependent on it.
The nausea will subside after a while, I take 20mg Lexapro daily. I know where you are right now, it is all so scary. I hope the meds help you.
Thanks..,, seeing Dr today
