Fluid in Abdomen

Nov., had 8 liters of fluid drained from Abdomen. Last week 10 liters removed. Described as carrying 10 bottles of soda in my arms. The anxiety was terrible, sending me to panic!!!

This time, discomfort and pain for a couple of days. Every body is different. Need experience advice for the next time. No one seems to know why this is happening. Could be the Gastro Intestinal Cancer.

Where was it drained from, organs, a mass, free fluid in the abdominal cavity? Did they test the fluid? Do you have liver disease diagnosed or kidney failure? Do you drink alot? These are the questions that I would wonder about to get a better idea. We are not docs, so they would know better.

Yes, lots of questions. Everyone says we don't know.

Abdominal drainage. They took out 10.3 Liters of fluid. No testing. Bio Hazard waste. I've been sick for a week. Too much!

I'm not a drinker, except for water. Could be from Gastro. Cancer. No one has been willing to speculate. They say these things happen.

That is a serious discussion you need to investigate further. I don't know what tests they do, but upper and lower endoscopy should tell them something.

My thoughts are with you for the best results.

maybe the G.I.S.T. Gastro Cancer. No one in medical communicty even ventures a possible reason. They say they don't know. Meanwhile I'm feeling so miserable.

The anxiety/panic Disorder sure took over the lead.

May I ask which country or state you live in? Are you seeing GI specialists or general practitioner?

Has the word ascites come up?

A barium study with CT scan and endoscopies keep coming up under searches.

You will have to be pushy to get them to listen and do tests if the are that undecided.

The Anxiety is overwhelming me more and more.

Endoscopy you are unconscious for. CT scans are pretty open.

Get a different doctor..

I don't know...the fluid is from down below the diaphragm? Any breathing issues?

Keep pushing PCP for a different doctor for diagnosis.

Started with 2 liters fluid being drained from a lung.

Escalated into abdomen. The anxiety goes to panic at the thought of having that procedure done too.

This time (3 months since last/first fluid drainage. Took out 10.3 liters and have been very sick. They took out too much-- that's what I think. I was screaming in pain when they finally removed the drainage. Abdomen black and blue at the site, after 10 days.

This expression is sure true --- It Takes a Village.

As Doctors are more and more afraid of law suits, they say less and less. Specialty areas don't work together to treat the whole person. Sorry about the tirade. It's one of those days.
