Hi
Can you clarify?
Does this happen just during an anxiety attack?
🐬
No, it can be persistent for long periods of time. However, my anxiety is strong most of the day.
First you need to be sure it's nothing medical.
Anxiety can cause all kinds of physical symptoms.
What do you do for your anxiety? Having it most of the day must be very draining
My anxiety presents in my stomach. It's has since I was a child. I get nausea and a heavy feeling. It totally correlates with my anxiety and panic. I have to wait it out and it goes away.
Hi Redtennis128, I wish there was an easy straight forward answer. Unfortunately,
each one of us finds a way to deal with that discomfort feeling. I describe it as going
down on that first roller coaster hill. ugh..
I first started with taking a benzo which helped almost immediately. But after a while
I realized I needed something that I could do and not take. I found that Meditation
and Breathing was the answer for me.
Especially the exhale in breathing... is what reduces that adrenaline rush even for moments
at a time it's quick and always with you. Accepting the feeling as not dangerous can
also reduce that extra adrenaline rush. And of course the last being just waiting it out
as it eventually does go away.
I will say though, that whether it's the first time or the 100th time, we never really
get use to it. I'm happy you are interacting with us. At least you know you are not
alone. xx
When my anxiety is high I get stomach cramps and the intense "feeling" to go to the bathroom. Sometimes I don't do anything perhaps pee a little bit but the feeling is as if I have been holding it for hours. Sometimes I have anxiety 💩
But for the most part it's just stomach cramps and nausea. I found drinking some Sprite or Ginger Ale helps me with that. Settles my stomach and myself down.
I also remind myself that this is all anxiety. There is nothing physically wrong with me. They are false alarms caused by anxiety. If I learn to just sit with these uncomfortable sensations, they will soon pass. I'll be okay again.
Wishing you healing and peace 🫂❤️
Hey, I thought this may be an interesting app for you. It's about overcoming anxiety.
Dare app available here: cqx3k.app.goo.gl/YNzLhttps:...
thank you! I was unable to access the Dare app vis the link. Any suggestions?
He also has a book to called Dare: end anxiety and panic attacks by Barry McDonagh. Dare app is also available for iPhone as well.
Helped me with learning to sit with that tummy cramp. That it's just uncomfortable sensation and nothing is wrong. It'll pass.
Sometimes I can ignore and sometimes I can't. You know what, that's okay. We all have days like that. And I shouldn't be hard on myself. Nor should you. It's going to take practice. I also play a little game. I set a timer for like 3 mins while I'm feeling uncomfortable. But if I'm able to stay at whatever place with that feeling until time is up. Then it's not as serious and I try to go again for another 3 mins.
