I am Pam, I am dealing with an anxiety disorder, already taking therapy.... I am facing mayor changes in my life right now, first of all leaving my job and concentrating in getting better.
I experience a lot of crisis very often... and it is really hard to cope with...
I am hopeful that I can connect with other people who suffer from the same condition as me.
Be strong everyone!!

I like how you wrote that acceptance of the problem is what will help me get through...
It's been a really tough couple of weeks and although I am surrounded by my family, right now they are far from me and it is rough. I will go live with my family since I don't believe being alone is the best for me right now.
Please let's keep in touch! We will make it through!
Hi Pam, welcome! I am new here also. I struggle with anxiety and bipolar Disorders and am facing a lot of crises in my life right now also. One thing that is helping somewhat with the racing thoughts is I meditate with a great app on my phone. If you are interested I would be happy to share it with you.
The meditation app is called Insight Timer. They have 15k guided meditations. Once you sign up (for free) you can search for specific topics like anxiety, depression or sleep for example. Let me know what you think. I can also recommend some meditations if you need that. Happy meditating! Oh, there is also a week long course on How To Meditate that is helpful. And yes, let’s keep in touch.
I know how your feeling, but some of it could be over thinking things, so it seems like a crisis? I've done that too, you have to stop and process what's going on, that's what I do when I feel things are out of control, then I see it's not as bad as I thought?
Distract yourself with music, deep breathing to calm yourself down, really think about the situation at hand if it's something you can control? If not, if it's life changing and not going to kill, that you'll be ok, it will pass.
Hi! I'm new to the group also. I suffer from major depression and an anxiety disorder. I certainly under stand how change makes everything so much worse.
My meds really help with the anxiety but my depression is medicine resistant. Are you on a medication for anxiety?
Anyway I feel your pain and hope the support on here helps.
I haven't used medication for now... I would like to explore of course if it is something I should pursue...
I will talk with my therapist about it...
What I have been doing is using strategies to control the anxiety like talking to me co-workers, my gf... walking... taking a bath... (even do it feels silly to say it, it actually helps!)
What strategies do you use to control the anxiety other than medication??
I think for me physical exercise works best so I try to go to the park and walk. I just started reading about cognitive therapy and it seems like it could be a way of coping.
Yeah I understand the life changes, I just got out of 24/7 treatment for three months. I miss everyone. I have OCD and right now I am struggling to getting into those old rituals. I just try to listen to music, meditation or I just look back at everything I have accomplished and all the struggles I have won. Thanks for being here!
First of all let me congratulate you for completing your treatment successfully!! That is so great! Second, I also like to hear some music.... I am going to start to meditate.... (I have been kind of reluctant to do it, but my therapist and the folks here have been very supportive for me to try it)....
I like reading, drawing.... (I am a designer so it really helps)
I am about to leave my job... only 7 days to go... hopefully I will start feeling better now that I can have more control of my time? Certainly I feel better now that I have made the decision and communicated to the company my situation.
I will surely struggle because I am going to do my packing on my own, just putting away my stuff in a mini storage and move with my parents (that's going to be my treatment for now) because I have discovered I cannot be alone.
I see, are you leaving work because of you illness? Thanks, by the way. That makes sense, and that’s cool that you can do thinks like reading and drawing, can’t do reading unless it is really good, but I am into true crime so I love reading articles about that. Some times getting into a good show is a good thing, you feel better if that character that you admire feels good. I would recommend, one day at a time, got into it and now I love it. I hope things are good with you moving to your parents, I think that would be a good thing. Support is always the best thing. I have some sheets of mindfulness. I also have sometime called a distress protocol for when I am very anxious, it is really helpful, I could send that to you if want it!
Hi! yes I am leaving work because of my illness, I can't cope with it and I want to focus completely on recovering and giving a 180 degree turnaround to my life.
What kind of shows do you like to watch?
I am finishing season 3 of Queer Eye on Netflix.. it really relaxes me and has great tips! both for women and men... but talking about crime... American Crime Story is a great one! Have you had the chance to watch it? I loved the OJ and Versace series...
You have it right about the characters in a series that you look up to... There is a series that apart from being really funny is really inspiring: Parks and Recreation... I love the main character.
I just completed my distress protocol! Thanks anyway...
So what do you plan to do this weekend? How is it going after completing your treatment??
Have you tried support groups? There is a network of support groups called DBSA. Just Google and see if there are any in your area. It would be a place where people understand and it would atleast get you out around people.
