Mirtazapine dizziness

Anyone experience dizziness on Mirtazapine? Did it eventually go away? Last night was my 3rd night taking 7mg and I seem to wake up a little dizzier each morning. I really don’t want to stop taking it because it seems to be helping and other than that I have no side affects.

I also take .5mg Ativan with the Mirtazapine at bedtime and .5mg Ativan by itself with breakfast, but I’ll be weaning off the Ativan once I’m stabilized on a new med.

Also dealing with post concussion syndrome, so I never know why I’m feeling anything!! :(

I really hope so! Other than that it feels like it’s working. My psychiatrist told me to try every other night so we’ll see!

Hi, i was on 7.5mg for 3 days and felt rough, like id been on a bender. Went to docs and he said to take the full 15mg (i was snapping them myself) and instantly felt so muchbetter after taking the 15. Maybe up your dose and see if it works but go with you doctors advice.x

Oh wow, you felt less side affects on the 15? That’s crazy. I’m glad it worked for you though! Was it just dizziness or other side affects?

Yeh honestly. My doc said it usually works that way with a lot of people. I had carbs craving, and dry mouth for about a week then after 2/3 weeks all side effects went. My most was the food cravings x

Those are definitely tolerable side affects. My appetite’s increased but not uncontrollably. I just feel normal again. Hoping to get back on the 7mg at some point.

Absolutely, easiest side effects to deal with. Good luck continuing on them though, as long as you feel theyre doing the job then thats all that matters x

I’m happy the Remeron is working out. If they had to try a 3rd one I would have freaked! Is it the first one you tried?

Hi Charl- Are you still doing okay on Mirtazapin? started night before last, 15mg. Very tired yesterday but quiet feeling, Only took 7,5 last night. Today exhausted, dizzy but can't sleep, I was told to take full dose 30 mg on the 3rd day in the morning and keep that going. I don't have problems going to sleep . Never taken anti depressants before. Also told to stick it out no matter what for 10 days at east. Any advice would be muchly appreciated!

Hi sorry I've only just seen this. How are you feeling now? I have read somewhere that a Lower dose is more sedating, so going to full dosage is better for that groggy feeling.

I wouldn't take it on a morning though as it is supposed to be a sedation type tablet.

Hope you're doing OK on them though. I'm still on them but taking 7.5,been trying to come off them but my anxiety comes in waves and I end up staying put x

Hi Charl, Tx for answer. I stopped taking it after 10 days. I know my depression, anxieties come from hypothyroidism and I still don't have the right dosage with meds, so it was too confusing to distinguish between Mirt. side effects and various dosages I try for the hypo. I feel better once in a while when hypo med is right so I got to keep on working on that. I wish you the best with coming off them.

Ah no problems. Yeh sometimes you just can't distinguish which one. At least you potentially know what is right for you. X

That’s great! Thanks for sharing your positive experience with it. I’m handling the 3mg better but am hoping to work my way back up to 7mg. So you only had side affects for the first 5 days?
