wean off mirtazapine

has anyone had success weaning off of 7.5 mirtazapine? I’m just not sure it’s really helping me.

Thinking of trying Paxil. Suffering terrible GAD. It’s debilitating . I also feel like it’s made me gain weight even thought I eat healthy and exercise.

Hi , I was taking. Mitazapie some time ago now and like you are experiencing i was the same with no affect but waitgain ,

I went from 11 stone to 16 and a half stone ,

At first i was given 15mg as a sleep aid then moved up to 45mg which then works as an antidepressant but again without any affect but weight gain

I told my doctor that it must stop and he agreed so gradually weened off them and lost 5 and a half stone in a matter of months and back to 11 stone once again ,

Ive also tried sertralin but once again with no affect so have now moved on to citalopram 20mg since the last 4 weeks which is quite a low dose but i have already noticed a difference aswel as my family so im going to increase to the next level and see were it takes me ,

Ive heard some horror stories regarding citralopram so be careful and mindful if you end up with the same medication but like i said it seems to be working slowly but without the side affects ,Tantrums, moody ect so i am lucky so far 🤞🤞 ,

Stay away from sertralin if possible as its mostly given being as its one of the cheapest out there and most common in the UK with lots of complaints regarding its affectiveness and also some horrible side affects,

Im on lots of different medicines since a while now so unsure if they contribute towards the citraloprams affectiveness so only time will tell as i seem to have a high tolerance to medication which stops them working for myself quite a lot ,

I take listexamphetamine now for my ADHD on a high dose which has helped with a lot but im also taking pregabalin and also thinking that it helps with a number of things related so it would be well worth you speaking to your GP regarding coming off Mitazapin ASAP as it will do you no good honestly now,

There isn't much left for me to trial now so im hoping they will be more affective for myself going forwards

75mg - 150 and upwards of Mitazapine is mostly common to help with sleep but will most definitely cause weight gain as when you increase that's when they are supposed to work as an antidepressant but to be quite honest there just a load of rubbish and will usually just make you worse and the weight gain is very depressing so please speak to your GP regarding coming off them and trying something else,

I hope this helps and if you ever need a chat then just let me know and i will try advice as much as possible regarding alternative meds

You could mention to them,

All the best to you and i hope you find the one for you.

No i was fine as i dropped down weekly from 45mg to zero and it was no problem at all with no withdrawal symptoms, If you do experience any effects then a low dose of diazipam will help you through it but to be honest i personally think you will smash it no bother,

My partner is due to come off them herself and quite confidently,

Your dose is minute and that dose is mostly used for a sleep aid more than anything ,

If you have gained weight then you will soon be back to ypur normal weight in no time ,

Personally i think that there just cheap rubbish and that's why there so widely given out for a number of conditions but the GPS these days have no experience like the older generation so they just trial and error

All the best to you and stay away from sertralin if possible,

James.

Thank you! That gives me some big relief. I just cut my half in half and started the process. I’ll be happy to be off of it and back to my normal weight! I really don’t think it was helping my anxiety at all. I mostly suffer from severe anxiety. Not so much depression although my severe anxiety can give me some depression syndrome.

I work out and eat well, and I still gained 10 lbs on it. So that was very annoying.

I’ll research citalopram. I haven’t tried that one yet.

Thanks again for the replies.

Thank you, Any time , a good medication for anxiety is pregabalin but dont mistake it for gabapentin as that is a massive weight gainer and not good,

Pregablin is primarily for relief of the pain in nerve ends but is squite amazing for anxiety as i was prescribed it for fibromiralgia then realised how well it worked for my anxiety ,

Ive cut myself down from 30mg of diazipam to just 10mg daily as I feel the Pregablin is working great towards my anxiety aswel as pain relief 200mg 3 times a day is my dose so will keep you posted if that's ok 👌

Here if you ever need a chat 🙂🤜🤛👈
