I made a post 2 weeks ago about starting outpatient for my severe anxiety. I'm happy to state that I feel that I'm making progress towards getting over my agoraphobia a little bit. I'm learning coping mechanisms and even made a friend through the program and I'm excited to continue! I made a plan to hang out with my mother, which I normally don't make plans recently as leaving the house caused anxiety, but I want to conquer this fear of the outside!

It’s not the outside you fear, it is the feelings of fear that you fear the most. If outside was really scary, everyone would stay behind closed doors. Learn to cope with those feelings by continually passing through them and not running away in fear and they will gradually subside. You can go anywhere. It’s only surges of adrenalin. Want to know more? Read Hope and Help for your Nerves by Dr Claire Weekes. If you follow her advice, the world will be your oyster.
That's very true, I'm mostly afraid of having another panic attack which I'm a bit worried about for Saturday when I leave out with my mom. I'll try and find that book and give it a read for sure.
It will be the best thing you do. Reading the book is the easy part. Putting into practice her teachings is a little trickier because it is all about facing your fears and doing it anyway and not withdrawing in panic. By allowing yourself to feel that surge of energy with a relaxed attitude, you learn to pass through those feelings (Dr Weekes called it floating) and come out the other side. It takes practice but like all things, the more you practice, the easier it gets. Panic will subside and you will lose your fear. Fear is the root cause of all anxiety disorders. Without fear, there is no anxiety.
