My go just gave me a scrip for Lexapro. I’m too scared to take it. It lists anxiety as a side effect. I spent part of last weekend in er for anxiety. I just can’t handle more of it. Any ideas?

I take lexapro! I have severe anxiety and haven’t had a problem! I would still take it (your doctor prescribed it for a reason) and then if anxiety comes stop taking it and calm your doctor!

Thanks for responding so quickly. He did say it was one with the fewest side effects and to cut the dose in half if I wanted to start more slowly. I guess I just very anxious right now and kind of a scaredy-cat. It was the worst attack I’ve had in a long time. Did you gain or lose weight?

I took half the dose this morning. It took all the courage I could muster. Dry mouth I can put up with. Thanks for your input. I really do need the additional help it could provide along with my regular therapy. I’m currently on a regular off season lay-off but will have to return to work March 1 and I sure as heck can’t do that in my current condition. I’m starting emdr this week hopefully the two things together will help me get on the right track. Thank God for this website.

That’s what the Doc said. Contrary to what you hear it’s pretty neutral. I hoping to be able to handle any side effects.

All the first dose did was upset my stomach and give me the runs a little which ain’t bad since I have ibs c.

I take Lexapro (actually the genetic version, Escitalopram)... I was cautious about taking it because of side effects. To echo Hopeandharm12 your doctor prescribed it think it will help. Give it a try, keep in mind it does take 4-6 weeks typically to feel full benefits. Some side effects start when you first start taking it & usually go away. I got dry mouth for awhile, carried water with me. If you are concern talk to your doctor, they do want the best for you. Good luck.

Hi Spinner1916, I'll join in response by letting you know that I too have

been on Lexapro for 5 years. One of the best drugs I have ever been on.

The only side effect has been dry mouth but that is common with a lot of

drugs. Good Luck, start slowly and give yourself enough time for your body

to adjust to the medication. It's going to be okay. :) xx
