Med change

So I changed meds on Monday and now I'm in the tired sleepy depressed stage. I was on 300mg of Wellbutrin, 150mg of Zoloft, and lorazepam as needed. We cut Wellbutrin to 150 and Zoloft to 100 and added Abilify 2mg. I am with a completely different provider hence the change. They are seeing if I might have a form of bipolar depression. I have struggled since middle school with depression and over time anxiety surfaced.

Anyone had similar experience with me change?

Hi, yes I am in the UK and our drug names are slightly different here. For example the zoloft you are on is called sertraline in the UK. Lorazepam is the same and the other two you are on now I see are anti depressants.

Yes It is quite common to have your meds changed. Psychiatrists and doctors don't like people taking lorazepam regularly and here in the Uk its limited to just a three day period that you are allowed to take it and only in crisis. I expect its the same in the US.

They've changed my meds several times. I am on zoloft (sertraline as they call it in the UK) and was on lorazepam but only to use in absolute emergencies and for no more than 3 days. I haven't needed to use it for the past 3 months but I know it is there if I hit another crisis. I guess it's normal to go through a period when you are adjusting to the med change. I see at the moment you are very tired. I guess it all needs to settle.

Hope you feel a bit livelier soon. It sounds like a good combination you are on now and I hope it helps with your anxiety and depression.

I know that when I went through changing different antidepressants till one worked the best for me it was a lot of up and down because our body takes so long to adjust. Hang in there and see if things get better over the next couple of weeks, which is the usual time to wait, and if it doesn't get better, tell you doctor.

Yes, I am going through a med change, too: from Pristiq to Viibryd. My understanding is that going from one med to another should be easier than going from a med to none. But I suspect there is still the potential for withdrawal symptoms from the old med and initial side effects of the new one. I look at this time as something I just have to gut it through. I try to remain hopeful that maybe this new drug will work better and have less annoying side effects than the old one. I hope this is the case for you. Hang in there. It may be a difficult couple of weeks. Let us know how you are doing.

Thanks all! I find comfort in the fact that this exists so we all have someone to talk to. I get that drop of sleepiness in the afternoon. I'm an avid runner and have found that with the right combo of music and location I can zone out and just run which sometimes helps me adjust if I feel like I'm off balance. I think it's because I feel the satisfaction that I'm able to let go and just go go go. I ran this morning and feel pretty good. I volunteer coach kids' kickball so I have that still too. Usually I get sort of anxious so we'll see how I do now with the new meds.

I had been in 300 mg of Wellbutrin and when I started a new doctor due to an insurance change that doctor cut me off Wellbutrin saying it could cause anxiety and worse depression. The new doctor changed my meds so many times I felt like a zombie. I finally stopped going, but have yet to find a new doctor.

I will admit though, I do not miss the strange dreams the Wellbutrin caused.
