Depression, anxiety and feeling like a total loser with no hope

This is my first time here. I’ve had diagnosed severe depression and anxiety for over 30 years. It has been fairly well controlled on meds for the past 10 years. Lately, however, I have been in a severe depression. I have been having panic attacks for hours on a daily basis. My doctor won’t increase my meds, and probably rightfully so, but I don’t know what to do. This is becoming unbearable. I feel so alone. No one in my circle really understands

I’m glad you found this community. I’m a newcomer as well and have already spent hours roaming the site for other people’s stories and I’ve felt less alone. I feel like it is distracting me from my toughts as well as reminding me that other people have the same issues i do. Lots of fun tips on here too, lots that you can’t find by searching the regular internet.

If u are struggling, your doctor should be willing to help u. And if u can’t go over his head or find another doctor. Is your doctor a family doctor or a psychiatrist? And do u see a therapist? And what’s the name of the medication u on? Did he give u some thing for panic attacks? You can always text a Criss help line 741-741 am here if u ever need to talk to someone I been on Zoloft for 3 weeks

I have all these questions and comments too!

I'm wondering what other support you receive outside of medication? Do you drink? Do you follow any eating plan? is your weighthealthy?

I do not have severe depression or anxiety but both have touched my life for many years and I have come to see patterns in how I eat, drink alcohol, exercise and sleep and the level of depressionand anxiety I experience. A low point tends to correspond with a time of reckless eating and drinking and vice versa.

I am sorry to hear your anxiety and depression are getting worse. I have found that taking magnesium (magnesium malate is best) and ginseng helped me a lot w both, they calm the mind body and spirit and get rid of sticky negative thoughts the loop around in the mind. Also, getting outside, laying on the grass to get grounded and breathe in fresh air, looking at stars, these things help a lot too. Our environment help or hurt our mental health and physical health. Speak aloud positive truths to counteract the negative thoughts and things said to us. Also, Volunteering helps us get our of our own misery to help others, which helps us. Call those negatives a lie and correct them to yourself. Protect yourself from those who put that added stress on you and go out and do new challenging things, take classes, go t meetups. Learn new things, meet new people, it will get you out of the pit. Hope this helps you, blessings!
