I don't want to be afraid

Last night I was working at the mall and there were two different shootings that happened not even ten minutes apart I heard the first two gun shots and if it weren't for my friend telling me to run and go as fast as I could I would have just froze... I was terrified out of my mind.

Their is nothing wrong with the way you reacted. People react in one of three ways when confronted with a deadly situation. They are fight, flight, or freeze. It’s part of the way we evolved as human beings. Now if you started to sing and dance then I would be concerned. Everything you feel and are experiencing is a healthy response to what happened. Are you able to obtain counseling? Sometimes local agencies will offer counseling to witnesses when these events occur.

I'm so very sorry you had to go through such a tragedy. That must have been scary for you. Happy you are OK and made it out safe. You are in my thoughts and also my prayers that Jesus bring you peace and comfort. Hugs and Love.

Thank you it's definitely a terrible thing to go through. Our boss still wanted us to come into work at 6am this morning and no one came into work because we no longer feel safe and we thought of this place as a second home and now we can't even think about going there without replaying last night's shooting in our heads

I can't imagine the fear you must have felt and still feel. I don't think I would have gone into work either. I feel some time away is ok, and or until you feel strong and safe enough to return. Hang in there and in time this too shall pass. I'll be thinking of you and sending prayers up. Hugs.

Jaylin, you were working at that mall that I saw on the news?? I can relate somewhat to

your fears. It is quite normal to react as you did. I'm so sorry for the traumatic experience. At one time, I too worked at the mall during the Christmas Season. Worked in customer service right in the center. This was during the time bombs were being set off

in malls around the country. It was tense. I watched each and every face that went by ready to call security at the drop of a hat. What started out as a fun job that I loved turned

out to be high stress.

You're in my thoughts. Stay safe Jaylin. I care. xx

I am so sorry you had to go through that. I get the same way after a school shooting. Keep the faith that everyone else there was good.

Very normal behaviors. These things are going to get worse and worse as the population grows.
