How To Love Your Self

Does anyone have any tips on learning to self-love? I am trying to work on how I feel about myself and how to take care of myself, but it is such a difficult task. Especially considering I haven't loved myself for as long as I can remember.

Start with trying to accept yourself, then move on to liking yourself.

Bringing the right people into your life is an important lesson. Get rid of people who are backstabbers or users. Get to know ordinary balanced nice people who live ordinary lives, no drama x

I wish I knew more "ordinary, balanced people," but I'm not sure there are many out there. I have good people in my life.

Might sound goofy, but try smiling at yourself in the mirror and giving yourself a compliment. It can be any compliment, maybe one small thing you’re content with about yourself. Like good job getting out of bed today, your hair looks good, you did a good job at work. The act of smiling itself should start breaking down that wall you have built of self loathing. Hope that helps!

I try that, but yes, it is hard. I try to talk myself up, etc., but it never seems to have any impact.

I found a lot of good insight on here:

thank you for this

It's hard to forgive yourself, I know. It comes down to the fact that you do have a conscience and know you could be better or should have been at some time in the past, but you've got to begin from now... this one moment where it's possible to begin again; being wiser and more compassionate towards your human frailties.

I try to forgive and focus on my positives, but it is very difficult. I have always been my harshest critic, although I try not to be.

You can start by having compassion for yourself. This is so important in self-care. And maybe you can also think about learning to like yourself. Then learn to love a little later. Small steps.

I found journaling helped me alot when I was feeling this way. I also took up a hobby that made me feel physically better. I started about a year ago with some light yoga and next thing you know I was doing it daily for my physical and mental health! I lost 20 plus lbs in six months and really felt better mentally and physically about myself. Yoga for me turned into more of a mental therapy daily then anything! Maybe find a hobby that you can get into and see how awesome you can become at it! Start small! I started with just 8 minutes a day!

Set a goal for yourself, set one you can easily reach, write it down. Reach that goal, and set one higher! I'm also in to process of learning to love myself, I've been an avid pot smoker for 13 years and just quit 2 weeks ago due to a weird mental breakdown I had.. Set goals, reach them. and set more!

I am sorry for what you are feeling. It's not easy when we don't think we like ourselves or we have very litlle self esteem whither it be from the way we look and being bullied which is such the case with me. I would suggest seeing a counselor, they can really help, and sometimes medication helps too. I do both as well as having a very strong faith in Jesus. I have a link to a site that has some good resources on self esteem list.ly/list/2FDf-peeking-o... and here is a number for a place that can offer free counseling advise and can refer you to counselors in your area. You will be in my prayers.

There is a meditation app called insight timer. Choose self confidence , or search for self esteem etc . Mediations , talks, courses etc are amazing & free. Enjoy

ive been goin through same thing, i couldnt stop thinking about the negatives about myself, and it would be rlly annoying having those thoughts in my brain all day, i couldnt just live my life without worrying ab them, well what i did, was im trying to ignore those thoughts, if one starts to bother u, just try to ignore it as best as u can or say no, and explain to urself that u are overexagerating cuz a lot of times thes thoughts rlly arent true , so ignore them, it worked for me, thats the best advice i could give
