Just reaching out, as today, like all my days, I am alone. I am 55, on disability, and I am alone. I have no friends or family, and I spend my days playing internet games on my phone. I feel so alone. I hope you understand. I do have a job interview tomorrow, but I feel no joy. Just alone and depressed.

I think most of us here can understand feeling alone. But we won’t let you feel alone here. That’s great you got an interview. Maybe with time the excitement will come. Let me know if I can be of any help to you! It’s important to encourage and support each other.

I am so sorry you feel this way, but just no that you are not alone in this.

First thing I always say it that it cannot hurt to go see a professional. It doesn't have to be a psychologist; you can go to a licensed counselor who can provide guidance in ways to battle depression.

One thing that might help is to start your day with a daily gratitude: write down 7 things that you are thankful for in your life. These can be silly like the morning air or the blue sky on a fall afternoon. Bottom line is to focus on the things that are good in your life. I know it might be challenging to see them, but they are there.

Are you able to walk or do any exercise? Walking in or near a wooded area is helpful for anxiety and depression.

Also, meditation might be a good practice to take up. You can do this from anywhere in your home, and there are several guided apps that will help you get started (headspace is a good place to start. They have a beginners course that is free).

Hi AngieBrooke i'm 45 and on disability for my depression/anxiety among other diagnoses; and also very lonely and alone in this world. didn't grow up with real family (abandoned by parents and tossed around diff. relatives), been thousands of miles away from relatives since age 18- no husband, one of my biggest fears that causes panic attacks is, what will happen as i grow old alone, and get weaker/sick with age, who will take care of me. I try to trust God, i go to Mass often, read Bible and I am blessed to have a couple friends . Some i met from church. is this something that can comfort you? or try meetup.com. this is a website where you can join diff. groups based on your interests, and just get together to do these activities. Sometimes there are even support groups on there for depression. This website is all over- even if you're not in USA- there's other countries on meetup. I pray you get this job, if you want it, and that there are better times ahead, with new friends and connections

Thank you Trina grace. I, too, worry about the future and what it hods for me. It causes tremendous anxiety. I try to focus on the here and now, but the future looms before me. It scares me to be so alone. I do see a therapist, and it helps some. I wish you good things in your present and future. God bless!

You have reached out! That is a start. I have felt no joy for long periods in my life but today, thanks to therapy, 12 step support groups, med and vitamins, etc., I am feeling better. Things can get better! Keep reachin out. I used to go to Al- Anon and Adult Children Anonyous groups when I felt totally alone and it helped to be around others struggling with loneliness and depression due to being raised in alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional homes, or due to mentAl illness, disability, etc.

I can relate so much to what you said. I’m also alone, no friends or close family. I wake up anxious and so afraid. I’m 53, I’ve never been married and have no children. I worry constantly about what will happen to me.

Hi AngieBrooke I’m so glad your interview went well and you got the job. I’m hanging in there. Every day is a struggle for me. I have so much fear of being alone. I’m tired of waking up feeling the same way.

I know just how you feel. I am 55 and I worry about my old age. Who will take care of me? How will I cut my grass? I put my faith in the Lord come what may. This alone brings me peace. I hope you have a support you can rely on.
