Does anyone else get the feeling sometimes that their brain is freezing or like stopping? I get that all the time when I’m anxious or nervous. I don’t know why just frustrating

I do. It is because the amygdala highjacks the prefrontal cortex. Basically the fight/flight part of the brain takes over because the brain can’t tell the difference between an anxious thought and a real threat like a lion. You can’t access your thinking brain during this time. I get this often. And it is frustrating.

Yes very I try to relax but sometimes get just happens out of the blue. I do my best but it’s hard. I just started lexapro. I hope it helps

I hope so too. Don’t be hard on yourself. This is a brain thing. It gets better as the anxiety lessens. Hang in there.

Hi Chrispali, I know how frightening it is to start a new medication.

But the fear can stop us from finding a drug that can bring us the

relief we've been looking for. I started on 10mg 7 years ago and am

now up to 20mg taken each day at lunchtime. When I started on Lexapro

I weaned slowly off my Benzos. So it's the Lexapro carrying me through

all these years with no lethargy, clear headed, energetic and just feeling

like myself again.

I hope when you are ready, you will give it a try. It may be just what you've

been looking for. Good Luck to you :) xx

That’s amazing and thank you for being here for us even though you feel better...I took a quarter of a Xanax .25 the other day for the first time and I felt pretty good... so I took 1/2 2 days ago and it got me so drowsy that I felt more anxious because anytime I feel off I get very anxious... I was so upset it I don’t work that time I cried like 3 times that day !

See that's what happened to me. I was on 1/2 of a 0.25mg of Xanax once a day for

30 years. Yes 30... When it no longer worked I was switched to Ativan which didn't

do anything at all. That's when I was put on Lexapro and came off the benzos.

Gee, I no longer felt drowsy, no longer needed a long afternoon nap. I felt alive

and clear headed. Of course we all respond differently to medications but you

really have nothing to lose and everything to gain by trying it. Just remember at

the beginning to give it time to reach full efficacy levels. 4-6 weeks.

It's going to be okay. When you are ready, we will be right here to support you. :) xx P.S. I'm like you too in not liking to feel off. Then we get scared and we fight

the medication trying to relax us. You are never alone in what you are going through.
