Hi, I’m new here.

Has anyone advice on supplements to help with depression? I have the sadness, low energy, low motivation type. I’ve tried St. John’s Wort and Sam-e, but neither have helped. I also take 5-HTP and melatonin to aid in sleep. (I cannot take prescription antidepressants due to eye side effects that I previously experienced). Thank you!

Thank you, great to hear they’re helping you! I also take those. Exercise is helpful. I used to bike every day, now I still get out there a few times a week.

I take D3, magnesium and fish oil.

Thank you peanutbuttercup, I do also take those. But you reminded me about fish oil, which I ran out of a while ago.

I started Levium recently because it got a lot of great reviews and success stories. Also, essential oils are calming. I use Vitality oils with my diffuser. I know you can’t take antidepressants but can you take anything for anxiety? I’m on klonopin and it really helps. Also, B12 and Vitamin D is good for energy. Bananas are supposed to help with moods. I know that sounds funny but it’s true. I hope you feel better 💜

Thank you MariaLove123.

Bananas Have tryptophan which helps with sleep and yes, moods. I don’t have anxiety these days, more the down side of depression. I’ll be starting bio identical hormone creams soon, which hopefully will help too. It’s nice to be communicating with people that understand.

Check out adaptogens like ashwaganda and holy basil. They take some time to work but they are herbs and they are meant to keep your system calm during times of stress.

Thank you, another good idea!
