I'm new here....

I believe I have had anxiety and depression for years but I didn't get any help until about 6 years ago. About 4 weeks ago I started taking venlafaxine now I'm waiting to see if it will help. Has anyone here taken venlafaxine? What has been your experience with it?

thanks

JTGreen - I have been on Vene-

flaxine, ( Effexor ) 150 mcg 2x's

daily. No other antidepressant

with it. I have been taking this

for 30 years. The Veneflaxine

is great for anxiety. The

depression rots. Nothing has

ever helped me with that.

I have tried therapy, but some

times your insurance does not

allow you that benefit.

I was originally told, you

have to wait two weeks. Until

you know if it is working.

Anxiety and depression are such

intricate problems. Try to be

patient. Write done your feelings

daily. Then you can refer back.

I do not cry anymore. (weird huh) ? I do know, if I do not have

this medicine - I cry, I can not drive, I have anxiety attacks.

My father drove a company

car for a big company, when I was young. He told me he had

them, when he drove across

the country. Dad did overcome this. He thinks they are

hereditary too.

Have a great weekend . 🙂

Hi, Jtgreen. Yes, I have been on venlafaxine ER for several years. That along with another med. It has seemed to really help me.

How have you felt on it?

I’m not seeing a therapist right now I have in the past

That has helped me, too. Like Pittymom88, I hope things get better for you.

I’m ok not great just ok, anxiety hasn’t lessen the depression is there at the end of this week I will be on 150mg my doctor said one day I would wake up and feel better I feel like I’m in a holding pattern

I've been taking venlafaxine for about two years now. I still have some serious downswings but it helps a lot with my mood stabilization. The withdrawal from it isn't fun. if I miss two doses in a row I start having what I call little "brain stutters" until I get back to dosing regularly (it's like my head is short circuiting throughout the day). Minimal side effects for me while taking it regularly though. Give it some time, I hope it helps you ❤️

Also, be honest with yourself and your doctor about how you feel. If you have a good doctor, he/she will listen to you and try to find the best medecine fit. That's just what I think! Best of luck!

Hi, I’ve just been prescribed this drug and am worried about starting it after reading reviews of side effects and particularly withdrawal. A few people have described ‘brain zaps’ and you described ‘brain stutters’ - I just wondered if you could try to explain what this means please? Sorry if that’s a tricky question but any help would be appreciated :)

Also Jtgreen - how are you feeling now with venlafaxine? Are you still taking it?

Jtgreen,

I am titrating off of Effexor. I was on it for quite awhile At its highest dose 150mg. For me it caused forgetfulness. Still have anxiety attacks. It helps more the depression side of things. I have to take lozapram when I have bad anxiety attacks. Everyone's anxiety and depression is different. Everyone's body is difference so you may have a totally different experience.

hope this helps!

New here and new to V too. Started it 3 and half weeks ago. Nothing great to report as yet. My dose was upped yesterday. The only thing is my appetite has reduced which I’m not complaining about. I’ve been on and off diff meds my whole adult life and react badly to various ones so I’m really hoping these help me. I’ve been off all anti ds for 8 years but have had a painkiller addiction for 13. Sober now but staying clean without self medicating is proving tough. I hope we all feel improvements soon.
