Has anyone else experienced extreme stomach pains due to their depression and anxiety?

I've been suffering from severe pains right below my rib cage. I always feel nauseous and it causes me not not eat on a regular basis. I've been dealing with this for about 8 months. I get the pains, sometimes in my back. It feels like all my muscles are tensing up.

I had other symptoms such as blood in my stool, sweating, weight loss, my menstrual period lasted 2 months straight. At this point I was seeing the doctor almost every week because the pain and nausea made it difficult to work.

After several visits to the doc and many blood tests... I was losing a significant amount of blood in my stool. I was then admitted to the hospital. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy as well as many other tests done. I never got any answers to what this could be, but I feel it has something to do with my anxiety. I immediately thought ulcer, but nothing found.

Im stumped and I'm sick of living with this stomach pain and nausea. I dont want to go back to the doc because I've already spent almost a thousand dollars out of pocket (insurance covered a lot)... but not confident in these doctors to go back.

Any feedback would be appreciated

OMG yes!! I have had gastritis numerous times over the years and just recently went through a bout! The area just underneath the ribs (epigastric region) is where I hurt too. This area swells also and I almost look pregnant. Once a serious bout sets in, it takes weeks to slowly heal. The inside of the stomach gets red and inflamed and is painful. I’ve never had any bleeding though. I have to take Nexium or Prilosec, or whatever is working for me at the time and just take it easy with what I put in my stomach. When I feel fine again, I continue to take the Nexium everyday to try and keep the gastritis away. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this! Try to watch it whenever you have to take antibiotics or when you drink alcohol or coffee as these things really aggravate my stomach. You might be different. I truly feel for you! Sometimes when I press in on the epigastric region hard, it will very temporarily ease the pain. Or place a rather hard pillow there and lie on your stomach. I hope it resolves soon! 🤢🤮

Did you have testing done for this? My doc did say my intestines are inflamed. They wanted me to go back for more testing to see if it's the bacteria I forgot the name. But I'm struggling with Bills now from all the other doctors visits.

It's been ongoing and it seems to tense up when I get stressed. I been very stressed for the past year. I just want to feel normal again. I've cut out coffee, I'm not a drinker. I dont eat often enough cuz I'm never hungry. Sometimes I have to force myself to eat.

Yes, I had an EGD, a lighted scope test done where they visualized my esophagus, stomach and beginning of small intestines. I’ve had this done twice over the years and both showed gastritis. Look it up and see if you think that sounds like what you’re experiencing. H.Pylori is the bacteria that can cause problems. That is a simple blood test. I’ve never had that! That would be an easier diagnosis, though! Absolutely stress will make it worse and also precipitate it. Try to relax as much as you can. Mine pain will radiate into my back also. You need to eat something small a few to several times a day. That acid in your stomach is just sitting there with nothing to do but irritate the lining of your stomach if you don’t eat. Wishing you the best!!

Anxiety does lead to stomach aches for me. But no blood in the stools. I would change doctors. Something is not right.

I too suffer with stomach pain, I think because of being nervous most of the time, for a few months. I have IBS and I think it makes it worst. I take medication for anxiety and depression and tried different ones for about year now, and still having issues every morning most of the morning, I wake up feeling nervous, stomach pain and I feel my body shaking, I'm trying to do my best of dealing with all this and it's now easy, I just keep on and I know that I will get better. 😊

Oh gosh yeah I posted about this a few months ago as i have to curl up in a ball the pain is so bad!

Defo make sure to ask the doctor for help . But I’m from 🇬🇧 and i use this powder call Andrews Salt which I mix in water and drink. It helps me a lot with these anxiety stomach cramps x but like I said please seek professional help first xx
