So in my last program at college (early childhood education, ended up dropping) someone came into our class and proceeded to say that you can become allergic to anything at any point, and proceeded to use peanut butter as an example (obviously cuz it's not uncommon).
As silly as it is I know have a bit of a problem eating peanut butter which really sucks cuz I love it (Reese's peanut butter cups man) I still eat it sometimes but I still get antsy.
Am I completely insane?
Any thoughts?
Thank you

What a great thing to tell you! I worried my son was allergic to peanuts. Amusingly enough, in a bizarre way, he is NOT. Oh, he is allergic to everything BUT peanuts and the animals but not seriously.
Still, I was advised to give him custom shots, weekly, that would build up in his system. On the side, as the dosages grew, so did the chance of Death.
We declined and he is great.
Oh, I noticed you dropped a course. I panicked and bailed out of University seven hours short of a BA. Later, I discovered I was getting straight A's. Well damn!
I do need to re apply but this time for straight computers. I tried to visit a tech school but wow! horribly aggressive and openly self serving. Next week, it will be cooler. Since I am beginning anew, I am going to check out the community college for computers. No free laptop, (horrors...good grief they were stupid!,) and much longer since it is degrees but...the environment and background matter. Hostile and stupid I cannot do.
Why not just finish the BA - after all you put in all that work? So you are in IT? I'll bet you could get a job while you finish . Good luck to you- and the best!
Thanks so much! I am no where as good as my youngest, it killed a few ideas I had when he 'played the computer' I do worry because I suck at programming but I am very good at repairing and cleaning. I wonder if I can do security?
A BA in nothing??? If you have the computor experience- could you work at an office- at least it will bring in some money. Also, I'll bet with that much towards a degree you have your core courses. BTW- dug the way you capitalized the Horrible University!
Can you have yourself tested for allergens so that you can put your mind at ease? Just to mention as an oldster, I honestly do not remember these fears of nuts and other foods. Wonder if it's people being given too many antibiotics over the years and then kids not having the strong immune systems? I am not in the medical field, but I was just wondering?
Hi again, we live in Texas. Major allergies and asthma for all. I cannot wear most makeup, lotions, or contacts. I wanted to leave but my eldest found a super position at Embassy Suites. Got to stay.
I'm part of a military family and my parents don't really like meds unless you desperately need them. I've had a few allergy tests done in the past, only thing that had come up was that I get hay fever and later on while having strep throats I had an allergic reaction to penicillin.
It's great to hear that your son is doing well! And yeah I was actually in two programs before first for Child and Youth Work (financial problems, had to move back home), said then the Early Childhood Education program (it was highly competitive, I wasn't getting any help and they were teaching you how to run a daycare, NOT to teach, so I dropped).
I'm trying my hardest to not let these "little" things set me off but sometimes it's hard.
I've been anxiety free for a while now so I think yesterday was just the day for mini attacks aha π
Nearly everything was setting me off but never lasted long.
Think I'm nervous about returning to school...don't know what else I'd be nervous or worried about currently π€
You'll do fine. Sucks to be raised where the family is intolerant and disbelieving about mental suffering. I wanted to thank the lions club and join them. I was offended by the head who asserted mental illness was "just people being lazy." Wow!
That's ridiculous I'm sorry to hear that you had to deal with someone so ignorant.
And nah, my families been good at helping me with my mental health, and for the most part I'm doing pretty well I think without medication, I think they're only telling me to use meds as a last resort because knowing me I would use it as a crutch and probably be super dependable on them. To each their own I guess π€·π»ββοΈ Aha
But thank you everyone again, just wanted to vent and get a conversation going
The 'crutch' word is rather ignorant. One takes insulin for diabetes. Is that a crutch? I think not. Glad you vented and I am also glad your family is okay.
Tell me about it! Aging...who came up with that?! Why can we not just fade into starlight like elves at a far off predetermined time?
I like anime. Okay, everyone, including the main characters die, but there is whole character building, (definitely not cartoonist,) for example, Code Geauss. However, one's soul lives on as a part of life and nature.
Oh, if you ever watch Anime, please avoid American Dubs. They are creepy and do not actually say what the characters say. (Even their subs.) Go straight to Japan or somewhere like Horriblesubs. Which, of course I do not.
