Hello! I am 24 years old and I have been feeling depressed and anxious for a while now. I blame it on the candida/ yeast overgrowth. Has anyone else had to deal with this? I need some help in sorting all of this out because I really can’t do it anymore.

Yeast overgrowth making my life miserable...
Yeast and candida is a fungus which the bacteria in your system naturally would fight off. Depression is either a temporary condition due to trauma, or great loss, divorce, etc, and can pass. Chronic depression is chemical and does not go away, candida would not cause this condition but would surely be stressful with the existing disease of depression. However an existing depression can be worsened with trauma, loss, divorce etc., but the feelings associated with depression like despair, or being sad without any other issues...are just part of the disease, you don't need a reason or cause...it's a chemical imbalance in your brain.
To treat candida yourself without taking a prescribed strong anti fungal, etc. you can eat active yogurt or simply take Acidophilus. Which replaces the natural bacteria in your system.
Acidophilus (Lactobacillus acidophilus), a bacterium found in the mouth, intestine and vagina, is used as a probiotic. Probiotics are good bacteria that are either the same as or very similar to the bacteria that are already in your body. Each type of probiotic supplement — and each strain of each type — can work in different ways.
Try to drink some kombucha! Also less processed foods such as chips sodas and candy
I already have kombucha and I eat extremely clean. Very rarely do I have added sugars
low sugar intake is important for sure...as the sugar feeds the fungus....
Thank you for this extremely thorough response, but I have a few things I don't completely agree with. First off your gut is in charge of producing 80-95% of your serotonin. Yes having a chemical imbalance in your brain makes you depressed but the imbalance comes from the brain first so that has to be looked at first. A happy gut means a happy everything else. The gut is also where a lot of other underlying issues come from so it has to be kept happy. In my case, I have nothing to be depressed about. I have an amazing boyfriend, a loving family, I just graduated college, pretty much everything is going well for me but I can't help but feel horrible most of the time. I have been getting sick often because my immune system has taken a hit from this candida overgrowth as well so that's another issue.
I have attached this link that will explain to you how the gut or the so-called second brain can affect your moon so much.

You do produce intestinal serotonin, that's true....but it does not go to your brain. And I absolutely agree with having a happy tummy....when I was at the university back in the stone age...I was pre-med with biological sciences as well as a ceramic art major...and in one studied in my physiology course, we learned how much stress and anger effected the actual stomach. They found that out about the sensitivity of your stomach with a patient who had to have an open flap over his gut for a procedure...and when he was upset...his stomach turned a bright red, and if you touched his stomach it would bleed. When he was calm and content...it turned a dull greyish pinkish color and nothing happened when your touched it. It's one of the reasons people get ulcers, is stress, the acid just eats holes. Also bowel movements can be hindered from stress. And of course that's very uncomfortable, but also very dangerous in long term. Women who have a lot of stress will carry fat around their mid section more. I think a happy tummy is crucial...but I'll read up more on how the intestinal serotonin effects the gut....since a lot in science has changed since I was in school and I am always open to learn new things....thanks loads for this info....
I 100% agree with you when it comes to anger and stress. I have recently been trying to meditate and journal to try and heel myself as soon as possible. I'm glad you shared this study that you have seen in your psychology course because it makes so much sense. The human body is all about balance and that is what I am striving for :)!
the mind can do amazing things.....and levels of stress, anger, depression....all play a part in how well you heal or don't heal...and it can also, I know and believe....contribute to the onset and exacerbation of disease;s like cancer, diabetes, ulcers, stroke, heart disease, and a lot more. Anyone in medicine will tell you that if a patient does not have the will to live and is teetering on life and death...they won't normally make it because they don't want to fight. The ones who fight often defy the odds medically because they have the will to live.
Absolutely! this couldn't be more true. Do you have any recommendations on how to lower stress and have a more positive outlook on life? I used to be extremely happy but It slowly started going away because of the levels of stress that my last year of college came with.
have you been diagnosed with depression or anxiety?....and if so are you taking any medication....or are you anti-meds, which many are by choice, and some meds don't work....which just means a different maintenance for dealing with your issues.
I have not been diagnosed with depression or anxiety. and I am anti meds
okay....I hear ya about the meds.....there are a lot of herbals and other methods. There are of course teas like chamomile, lavender, and some great blends with lots of good stuff. There's CBT oil which is derived from hemp, but no high, it's legal and works for a lot of folks. Exorcise to release endorphins and good diet of course...low to no caffeine and keep sugar intake low. Also meditation works for a lot people as well. I know there are quite a few things people here are doing and trying that are med resistant, so they have to do alternatives. Try putting a search into the search box and see what posts come up...also of course goggle alternatives....glad your sharing...let everyone know what works best for you, I'm glad your on this journey...and a great group here to be on it with.
I have one more question, how would you recommend to proceed for meditation. It is such a hard and confusing task. I always end up drifting away in other thoughts when I try to meditate ...
now my friend with that one....your best bet seriously is to go to youtube....find some different instructional videos...as there are tons of methods....but for me...I simply close my eyes and get into a quiet space.....but because I have the proverbial 'hamsters wheel' of thoughts running around in my head...I have to have music...or the sound of rain....and if I am too amped up from something going on...I can't quiet my mind....so I need 'white noise' and for me that is simply to watch something that is soothing to me on TV, no car chases or gun fights. A lot of people say no....but I do fall asleep with the volume down, so I don't really hear the dialogue...but it's loud enough to quiet my brain....I know that sounds like an oxymoron to be listening to something to quiet your brain...but it actually stops me from over thinking as my brain is focused on the TV....but not processing anything.
Have you tried CandidaFx? I have heard that works miracles and take it regularly even though I don't have yeast symptoms; it's a great detox.
I haven't tried that specific one but I bought a yeast control supplement that I will start taking soon!
I'm telling you they work miracles, but you have to follow their instructions
any die-off symptoms?
Use with a probiotic, I read that it's best to take before bed so any die off symptoms happen while you sleep. There are a ton of reviews on the product, a lot of q and a as well, recommend you read up on it. I agree, healthy gut is so inportant!
Acidophilus is a probiotic....as well as the yogurt has the bacteria in it.
I go through the same thing and suffer in pain finally my primary care physician prescribed cream and pills that are clearing up the problem well but I was having very bad anxiety before that
