I also have extreme difficulty concentrating when I’m depressed. You didn’t mention depression/anxiety...are you depressed? If so, are you seeing a Psychiatrist/therapist? If so, are you on any meds?
Yes i have mild depression and anxiety,but no so much so as to cause this concentration problem.
My concentration problem is persistent .It never improved
I am on escitalopram 20 but i think it isn't helping me.
If that med isn’t helping, maybe your doctor could switch you to something else. Hmmm do you have something weighing heavily on your mind? Are you, perhaps, ruminating over negative experiences from your past? Those type things can definitely cause you to have a hard time concentrating. I’m trying to help...🤪!!

When I’m in the midst of a depressive episode, I’m pretty much unable to do almost everything, and one of those being unable to concentrate. For me, I’m usually ruminating over negative thoughts and have to completely redirect my thinking into positive thoughts. Worrying about things I have no control over is pointless and draining. If I can’t redirect my thoughts, I distract myself with something that keeps me busy, such as, cooking and baking. That’s just an example that happens to work well for me. I also listen to music frequently which lifts my spirits. I am on Lithium and Cymbalta. I faithfully visit my psychiatrist and work on cultivating my spiritual life. I also make myself interact socially to help drive a wedge between me and isolation. I exercise gratitude almost constantly and focus on the good in situations vs. the negative. These simple things help me so much! When doing the above, I will begin to recover from the episode and thereby, increasing my ability to concentrate and live a peaceful life! Whew! Great advice. I tend to wallow in depression. It takes a lot of energy to get the motivation to do something like clean but one I do, I feel better. I go to support groups and that helps me from isolating. Listening to music and playing it is also a big help.
