Medication question

I have been on xanax for a few years now, but they don't seem to help much anymore. I don't want to up my dosage. My doctor prescribed busiprone. Has anyone had good results with this medication? I have severe generalized anxiety disorder.

lpeep, I was on 0.25mg Xanax. After being on it for years, symptoms broke through and I wasn't willing to keep upping the dose either. I was switched to other medications none of them worked as good as Xanax. It's when I decided with the help of my doctor to wean completely off the Xanax. For me....it was the best decision made. After a slow, difficult process, I am now benzo free and feel great. Sometimes after a long time on benzos, it's the med itself that is holding us back.

I now use Meditation and Deep Breathing to relax my mind and body. It's works just as well if not better because it can be done as many times a day as I need it.

Please give Buspar a try, it may very well be a good alternative to Xanax for you. We are all different in how we respond to medication.. My best to you. Let me know how you do on Buspar. Stay Positive xx
