Hi moonchild, I think when feelings become so overwhelming it can seem logical to self harm as a way of coping. However, it won't 'fix' anything and you may even feel a bit worse?? I don't know . If you can't get hold of your therapist then right now then keep chatting on here. If you want PM that's fine but let it out. Just keep typing even if you don't think it makes sense. Xxx

Hi Moonchild!

I'm sorry to hear that... I know how you feel. Self harming used to be how I coped with my feelings of hopelessness, too. And afterwards I'd feel a lot worse... But I didn't know how to stop.

A quick couple of tips that might help you:

- What are you saying to yourself? If you keep repeating to yourself that you are hopeless and broken, then you will want to hurt yourself and feel worse.

--> try to use positive affirmations dailyburn.com/life/lifestyl... (that's just the first web site I found... do a google search to find something that better suits you if you don't like these)

--> Practice grattitue. I know it's hard to think about the good in your life when you just want to give up. But find something, anything, to be grateful for, and mediate on that! Even if it's as simple as "I'm grateful that I woke up today and that I have functioning legs and arms! Life would be tougher without those!" That's just an example. It can be that basic! :)

--> Find a better distraction. Try color books, or watch your fav movie, call a friend and have a chat, call a hotline (lifeline.org.au/get-help/to... - up top you can see the crisis line number)

Hope this helps!

Remember, you are precious, you are loved, you are wonderful and unique! Don't give up on yourself!
