When people go all out to harm you,

do you seek revenge, or just walk away?

Mulling over my options right now.

Not feeling depressed and anxious so much as angry about the harm done to me, which I never deserved.

please consider reporting it. Why? If they bully you and treat you this way they most certainly do the same to others as well as possibly animals. Cruelty is cruelty afterall.

Courage means the ability and conviction to share your story. Your roar. When you do do it lets others who are going through the same thing stand up for themselves, you.

And that’s how society begins to change!

Be brave!

Personally, I believe in Karma not revenge... I think when you seek revenge, it's no different than what the other person did to you. And if someone is being a jerk, it depends on what the circumstance is... you have every right to defend yourself, but always being ready for battle doesn't work either, pick your battles.... if I am dealing with a person incapable of taking any responsibility for their actions, thinks they are never wrong, and never say sorry, ...then what's the point of even talking to them... your wasting your time... so in that case, yeah... walk away and do something that makes you happy or do something for someone else.

Fauxartist made a good point many times I could have went out for revenge but never revenge comes in many ways and Karma might play a part in it.

This will sound bizarre, but I have had the belief since I was a child, I am surrounded by angels who act on my behalf when I am harmed badly. Or even slightly. So many incidences of people having bad things happen to them, including death, after being cruel to me.

Maybe karma is the best route. Because when it comes to people who have harmed me deliberately, karma sure does punish them more harshly than I ever would.

Still, there is some pleasure to be had in daydreaming of revenge.

I do not believe revenge is the best option, even though it is tempting.

Take the high road. Walk away. You know what they say about karma.

Revenge will eat you apart, and what will it gain in the end? Is this worth picking up charges for? Have you ever spent time in jail? It's not fun, let me tell you. People get their own in the end, I firmly believe that. I agree w the above statements, take the high road and walk away w your head held high. The anger will lessen w time...

Who said anything about illegal actions? I would never do anything illegal. Colonel’s daughter, former Army Captain, Colonel’s wife. I am as straight arrow as anyone can be.

There are any number of ways to execute revenge that do not involve illegality,

That being said, Karma is probably the best revenge.

I’ll just pray for the person to die. That’ll work.

I agree let Karma handle it .

I sought revenge, and it bit me on the butt. Others came forward, citing things I had done to them in the distant past. I wish I had left well enough alone. I stirred up a hornet's nest.

I am sorry you had that bad experience when you sought justice. 😢

Roxylox profile image
Roxylox in reply toTryingSoHard66

It wasn't a legal route. I just wrote about my experiences and it was made public. It was only meant for the attention of a few people.

That’s a shame…people sharing information you clearly intended as private is an absolute violation of your privacy.

I can always just wish for them to die soon. That works for me.

justice and revenge aren’t the same thing. You can’t have justice without peace and vice versa.

wondering what Justice would look like, for me.

We don't know the circumstances & that is ok. It has taken me a long time to get to a place where I truly feel holding on to anger does no one any good. If you are being hurt (physically, emotionally, sexually, or psychologically), please tell those who can help! But do all you can not to hold onto anger. I realize that is easy for those of us on the outside to say, but try- meditate, pray, journal to not let this take hold of you. You are bigger & better than their pettiness and cruelty. Treat others as you want others to treat you. You will be in my prayers! And that's not just me typing, I mean it. You are loved, hold on to that.

thank you so much. I am letting go of the anger now.

I think maybe it’s best for me to be alone for awhile and meditate, do my art, enjoy nature. Time for me to be a monk and retreat into my cave.

Thank you for your kindness.

Revenge is always wrong. It is just returning hate for hate and the result is disastrous. When I learned to forgive I found peace. That doesn't mean we have to be reconciled (hang out) with those hurtful, toxic people (unless they change).

A Poison Tree

by William Blake

I was angry with my friend:

I told my wrath, my wrath did end.

I was angry with my foe:

I told it not, my wrath did grow.

.

And I watered it in fears

Night and morning with my tears,

And I sunned it with smiles

And with soft deceitful wiles.

.

And it grew both day and night,

Till it bore an apple bright,

And my foe beheld it shine,

And he knew that it was mine,--

.

And into my garden stole

When the night had veiled the pole;

In the morning, glad, I see

My foe outstretched beneath the tree.

Hi. Your dilemma is my dilemma these days. I wanted to give you some questions to ask yourself. These are questions I've both gotten from others and thought of myself. They might help:

-how would it make you feel to get revenge? (this goes for how it would make you feel in the long run)

-what would you get out of getting revenge?

-how would getting revenge help you?

-are you staying true to who you are by getting revenge?

-what might the consequences be for getting revenge, and are you willing to face those consequences?

-what if you don't get your desired result? In other words, if you were to try and get revenge, are you guaranteed that the other person would feel remorseful?

Anyway...food for thought

I would not be true to myself if I sought revenge, no. That is something for me to consider now. I want to be true to myself. My integrity is everything to me.

So I see I have no choice at all but to hand it all to karma because I will violate my own beliefs if I were to seek revenge.

It’s hard knowing what to do with this anger, is all, Where to release it and how to release it.

in reply toTryingSoHard66

I totally hear you on this. One of the questions I was asked is what am I doing with my anger. The person who asked me this said that people need to do something with their anger or else it will come out sideways (in an unconstructive way). For me personally, I go ice skating whenever I have the chance. I also write it down and talk to my husband about it. Getting out in the fresh air helps as well. It's really uncomfortable to harbor all this anger because it's not who I am. I can't fight it, though. If I fight it and chastise myself for being angry, it will just get larger.

Have you heard of the app "The Tapping Solution"? I've recently gotten into this and it really helps. There are so many meditations and it is great. One of the meditations is even on releasing anger and resent! If you don't know how to tap, it teaches you how to do it.
