Issues with my Daughter

Our 32 year old daughter has been diagnosed with Depression, OCD,Bipolar, and others. She went to therapy when she was young and also was medicated. She has not been receiving help for the last 7-8 years and everything is getting worse. She refuses to get help. Her mother and I are at our wits end. We need help.

This sounds like how my mom was when she was still with us. I'm so very sorry this is happening. 💙 it's so difficult to watch a loved one struggle without being able to help them. Or be able to convince them to help themselves or to use different treatment options. Praying for your family.

Thank you

It must be really difficult for you both to see your daughter struggle and suffer but not be getting any help. Perhaps someone other than you could suggest to her that she might benefit from support. She might be too used to hearing it from you and stopped listening. It's a really difficult one as she is likely to benefit from support but resisting taking the help. Very best of luck to you X

Thanks. We have been trying to get her to talk to someone but she refused to do so. She is not using drugs or alcohol. She still lives at home and doesn’t have a job. We are not sure if she is even aware how bad she has gotten.

I’m so sorry to hear she doesn’t want help. Is she abusing drugs or alcohol? If so I would recommend you connect with AA or NA. Also, therapy for you and your wife may help to get coping skills and strategies to deal with her and save your own marriage and sanity. If she is a harm to herself she can be admitted to the hospital on a 72 hour hold.

I live in the US so things may be different here. My son, about the same age also lived with me

He was very, very ill. It was a horrible life at home. Did not know what to do. He also heard things. What follows in words took about three months of plannimg

We had the police come to our home and pick him up. He was brought to a hospital for evaluation

Then he was driven one hundred miles away to anothet hospital. I had to go to court and testify against him

After a four month stay in hospital and half way house, he came home. He is on the right medicine and has his own place. You would never know he is sick. It was one of the hardest things I ever did. The anguish I felt was unbelievable, but worth all of it and more.
