I recently went through some health issues which led me to develop GAD and panic attacks. I cant fall asleep without Ambien and even when i take that, i wake up in 3 hours? Is the wakeup from underlying anxiety? I was recently put on citalopram, hoping that will help.
How do you all manage sleep issues?

I take Ambien and Klonipin (1mg). If I just take the Ambien, I will wake up early. The Klonipin is longer lasting but it does make me groggy in the morning. I have also taken Seroquel in the past but it also creates the groggy feeling.
Same with me, I’ve been on ambien so long that it doesn’t keep me asleep. So, when my insomnia was really bad I got on Remeron and that did knock me out, so did Ambien CR, that made me sleep so deeply I woke up after a solid 7 hours and didn’t even remember dreaming. The problem was I felt sedated the entire next day too. I can take a smaller amount of Remeron and it keeps a little sleepy but not as tired as the ambien CR. Valerian tea also has a sedative effect but won’t stand up to severe insomnia.
I don’t work or have a set schedule to be awake at any set time. It’s a living hell when you have nothing productive to do with your life. If I can’t sleep I used to just lay in bed in the dark and just wait to fall asleep. Now I just come on here and make an ass of myself till I get tired.
I tried remeron before, horrible feeling and didnt give me much sleep. I have ambien cr, that gives me 4 1/2 hours only. I have some health issues and need to sleep, dont know how to get 6 hours of sleep. Been in this cycle for a month and half, im freaking out. Dont know how to break out of this trap
I use you tube meditations, for sleep, they work for me. There are a lot to choose from, I use different ones every few nights. I never seem to ge to the end of one, I usually choose ones that are an hour long..
I do wake, after a few hours and I put the meditation on again. Listening to someone talking. And the music in the background takes my mind off the worrying anxious ruminations and I tend to fall asleep. My mind does wander and I keep bringing it back to the meditation, I guess it’s mindfulness ....
Jason Stephenson and Michael Sealey are two people who do them on you tube.
