Hurting over loss

It was 7 years that I lost my best friend Cheyenne. πŸ’πŸ’She's was a shepherd lab and I was soooo close to her cause I never married never had kids so she was like a daughter to me. Maybe I'm being ridiculous this many years later but if anyone can relate maybe someone out there knows how it feels. I have no idea why it still hurts but just does. Like I said I think its cause she was like a kid to me. Haven't been able to have one since due to my move to Vegas. In Utah but can't have pets here either in this condo. Can't afford to get one either. I think its due to her helping brighten all the down days I used to have. As you all know dogs are wonderful for thatπŸ’ Sorry for sounding stupid but I also lost her on memorial day weekend. Maybe that is why I'm missing her!!!!!

So sorry for your loss :( You don’t sound stupid!!! She was so very beautiful and although she’s not physically with you, she will always be in your heart and that’s a loving and permanent home. Are there any animal rescue centers near you? I think if there are any you should volunteer or something of the sort so that you can hang out with some beautiful furry friends :)

Oh thank you from the bottom of my heart for understanding! Really warms my ❀. Really helps to know someone wrote me. Once I get to know the area I probably will volunteer to walk the dogs in the animal shelter cause I did that back in Washington state. It sounds silly but,I still have her pics around me in my loft and I still say good morning and goodnight girl still. Like you said I just think of her like her spirit is with me. We went everywhere together. I took her to lakes, rivers, mtns even to ocean too. I wasn't working so I was with her 24 7. Thank you for being so understanding!!

Oh I'm going to keep reading your post while going thru this horrible weekend.

I'm just back from walking my dog, if I lost him I'm sure i would feel just like you feel.

He is a good friend to me and would leave a big hole if he wasn't here.

Oh so cool. They are like hugs. Warm, cuddling buddies and so loving!!# that's all my aunt has ever had. I couldn't stop hugging and playing with her new puppy but he's grown up now!!! Bet he's a great golden retriever!!!😁🐢

β€’ in reply tolovedogs51511

He still likes the cuddles and still has some puppy left in him. He is sleeping now but will waken soon, it is sunny today so he will spend a lot of it in the garden. He likes to sleep a lot but also likes to get out for a run.

😁

My Lhasa has been dead for 8 years. I had her the whole time I was homebound. She was the only friend I had. I remember being very upset when I found her deceased. I had her for 14 years. It feels as if she has been gone for 20 years. We can’t afford another one. I do know she made me a better person in the short time I had her. She will always be my best friend.

Oh I'm so sorry you lost your nest friend too. Losing Cheyenne devestates me everyday!! I had her 14 years also. Ever since she was an adorable little puppy. I know that feeling of it feeling like decades ago. I still talk to her everyday. Cheyenne also made me be a better person. Dogs are pure love and joy. I need another best friend cause I can't take being without one. Hope you have a great weekend. Take care

I’m sorry for your loss. We never get over the loss of precious animals, they are part of the family. As time goes by it gets slightly easier but we never forget them for sure...

You don’t sound stupid at all.

Thank you Olivia!! I talk to her everyday still. She was so full of fun and silliness. Always smiled when with her. We were attached at the hip. She was such a beautiful dog but tough as nails. Her strength amazed me. Carried logs not sticks, would rip a stump out of the river, swam the toughest rivers etc. I was like damn Cheyenne what are you doing. She would slap the water and bark at it for hours!! Lol. Thanks for your kind words Olivia!!! Made my dayπŸ˜πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜€πŸΆπŸ™

Ahh she looks lovely. We lost our Border Collie. 10 years ago.He lived to be 21 years old! Yes, really😊! What i miss most is his making a big fuss of me when i might only have been to hang out the Washing! He was a rescue dog n we couldn't have asked for a dearer πŸ• dog. He used to " round up" my kids, if a stranger was close. As if they were sheep. I've not wanted another dog since. But, now I'm alone i am thinking of having just a little dog. A very different dog, as if course i cannot replace him. 😊🌻✌️

He sounds wonderful. Your so lucky to of had him for 21 years!! Love border collie. Very smart dogs. I adopted one from the shelter after Cheyenne passed and she was very cute but didn't like to anything but go for walks in the morning, I took for 2 your walks. Long time but she didn't like to play or anything. She ended up being adopted to a sweet gal with kids. She's doing really good now. Haven't had one since. Its been way to long to have no best friend. Its killing me. Like you said you can never replace the dog you loved but hopefully find another one to share life with. Miss Cheyenne soooo MUCH!!!

Ahhh.. i think you should have another you know, and you have so much care to give. Maybe he,ll be second best to Cheyenne but that's ok. πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸŒ»

Yeah any rescue dog would be fabulous. I spoil my dog like Cheyenne. Long walks, rivers, lakes mtns, etc. I cook my own biscuits from recipes online. Don't buy anything from nasty evil China. They've poisoned America's dogs before so hell no nothing I get is from there. Has to be American made or I just make own treats. She used to love carrots and salmon a lot!! Spoiled her everyday. I loved it!!! Looking for that again if possible. Not allowed animals here at,this condo. But lots of dogs in the complex. Ones out front right now. I get so jealous and sad not having, one!!

Dubba61 profile image

Yes, ours was spoilt too. He would only eat the best n most expensive tinned dog food. And at 8 pm exactly ( i don't know how he knew the time) he would put his paw on my knee. If i jokingly ignored him, he would pat and snuffle at me. That meant "time for doggie chocolate buttons". Not too many didn't want his health ruined. Nice that you made your own biscuits.😊 I'm about to move house so when I'm settled i shall start looking for a little dog. πŸ˜€βœŒοΈ

Hi lovedogs, Shepherds are my passion. I had my Princess Brandywine of Schaumburg for 13 years. We were inseparable. She was so human like and loving. She didn't need a fence in yard because she wouldn't have gone anywhere w/o me. We would sit on the stoop out in front waiting for my daughter to get home from school each day. Brandy couldn't sit close enough to be. She was 120 lbs all muscle. She thought she was human and so each time she ate, I would sit on the kitchen step and spoon feed her or she wouldn't eat.

I remember her looking in a mirror once and getting startled. I laughed and said "Surprise, you're a dog, I bet you thought you looked like mommy" She would allow me to put rubber boots on her paws during the rainy season, a raincoat and rain hat. We played in the snow together, and in the summer I'd fill up a kiddie pool and she would make a mad dash into the water. The joy she gave me was unreal. Truly unconditional love. I've always been afraid I'd never find another Brandy and so I never choose to look any more. But every time I see someone walking their Shepherd or I see one on TV or the news, my eyes fill with tears in thinking of the best days of my life.

Thank you lovedogs for allowing me to share some beautiful memories of the past. xx

Awwww that is so wonderful!!! Aren't shepherds the best of the best!!! I wish I could at,least 10 shepherds. Love love love them soooo much!!! Brandy sounds so much like Cheyenne!!! Like brandy Cheyenne was all muscles too. She had to show me how big and bad she was!! Lol. Brandy sounds like a cool girlπŸ˜πŸΆπŸΆπŸ˜€ All I want is Cheyenne back in my life to feel good again. I so know that feeling of not wanting a different dog especially after loving one for so long. Ill never get over losing her ever. I still say good morning and goodnight to her everyday!!! Maybe that's ridiculous so many years later but I don't care cause she just meant that much to me!!!πŸ’πŸΆ Cheyenne would sit on my front porch with me too. Right next to me. I miss getting out of the shower and her being right there on the bathroom rug waiting for me to get out. Just pure πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’. The only thing I can think of,is how lucky we both were to have had shepherds. She made me sooooo happy even on those really dark days. Just waking up to her in the morning was just AWESOME!! We are very lucky to have had such great best friends!! Shepherds rule!!! πŸΆπŸ’πŸ™πŸ˜πŸ’πŸΆ Enjoy your weekend agora1!!! God bless and thanks for sharing your story with meπŸ˜€πŸ™

Hey- sorry you can't have dogs there. Perhaps you can volunteer through a rescue organization to get a little share of dog?

Oh thank you for the kind words. Losing dogs is the worst feeling. This one was extra special to me that's why its been so hard. I keep telling her I wish you could of been around me for life. I still talk to her is that stupid or ridiculous? I'm not sure. Plus I lost her on memorial day weekend. So sad right now.

I was thinking about that cause I've done,it before. Loved showing a dog that someone does love them and wants to help them. They all deserve that love!!!
